Euro - parts

I have been looking at the euro parts for cars and I am interested in a couple of parts for the SVX. I am wondering if these can be changed from the regular SVX we have in the states:

1. Head lamp washer
2. Side turning light
3. Fender marker (front side)
4. Back tail lights

I am assuming the euro parts are different, otherwise you would not be bothered wanting to change.
I do not know myself what differences there might be, except that US cars were assembled in the States, and so would have certain Federal regs applying only to these cars.

Eddycat would agree that Subaru do not normally apply change for it's own sake, so the parts you list will probably fit OK.
Suggest you contact Phil Skuse {Phil/Belha from the UK Yahoo site}
Phil has a Japanese spec car like mine{different again to Euro spec}, but also has the US workshop manual, and would be familiar with the differences from the manual, as he deals with UK dealers.

Also, if you do a Google search for Bell & Colville, they are a major UK multi car fanchise, who specialise in Lotus, but also support Subaru, incl SVX. I would bet they can price your parts, if Phil can verify fitment is not a problem.

Best of luck

Joe:)

Euro-parts for SVX

I am not at my own computer at the moment, but will reply with more information tomorrow.
I have a parts listing from Bell-Colvill in the UK of the parts required to convert a US-spec SVX to UK. I was considering a job move to England and needed info on conversion of my 92 SVX. These parts include the rear center panel with built-in rear fog lights, clear front turn signal assemblies, side marker "repeater" lights, etc. These are all a direct replacement for the US parts. ( I have the UK-spec clear front turn signals, look in my personal locker in "my 92 Pearl" folder. The UK taillight panel folder is there also.

Tomorrow I will post part numbers and prices and contact info. The parts mamager at Bell-Colvill is Jerry Hunt and is a delight to do business with.

More tomorrow or email me at jhoffman44@comcast.net

The US cars were not assembled in the states, at least that is my belief at this time. The reason for this belief is that when I test drove it, the car was covered with cosmoline. They had to wash enough off the windshield so I could take it for a test drive. Unless they put this on to store the cars here until they were sold, I have to believe it was for transport across the Pacific.

US SVXs were assembled on the same line as the rest of the world's SVXs - in Gunma Japan.

Quite true. The only cars made (assembled) in the US are Legacys. They also used to come with cosmoline on them, now they use that sticky paper and probably a little cosmoline to protect them in transit.

One of the detail guys was telling a new employee as they were using the special sauce to remove the cosmoline coating that they applied it to the cars to protect them from the salt water. I was standing nearby washing my hands and asked him just how much salt water was between here and Indiana....I don't think they go through Utah on the way here.:D

I remember the first time I saw a car coated in cosmoline. It was a shipment of VW Bugs. I asked my dad what was on the cars. You can probably guess his reply. :D (My dad always went for the "cheap ones" too.)
