"How To" for power Mode switch addition
As it says above, has anyone done a "How To" doc for this mod ?.
Just that it is really hard to find some actual "short" info (with photos). I have a couple of OEM "Power" switches from JDM models and want to add to my NZ new 94 LSi. thanks Steve in New Zealand |

Thanks for that - hopefully it is the same for AUS/NZ models?.

Re: "How To" for power Mode switch addition
Well my NZ new 95 model must NOT have A4 connected to the module internally - as I do not get the power light coming on when pin A4 is shorted to GND ?
So now I need to remove the module and swap it out with a JDM version ?. Anyone else had a similar issue ?. Anyone know where / what components are connected to pin A4 within the module - that way I can conform by opening up my module to check what is missing?. TIA |
Re: "How To" for power Mode switch addition
Australia/NZ model has a similar TCU to the UK model. Pin A4 activates "Economy" mode not Power mode.
If you want a power mode switch for that, you have to chip the TCU. I did a few of these for people a long time ago, but I don't have the time anymore. As far as I remember, a JDM TCU won't work because the front speed sensor is different. Plus there are C solenoid differences pre and post 1995. People have overcome these problems, but it's not a easy swap. |

Phil,
Yes you did a ROM for me about 6 years ago - finally just put it in, it works a treat (well the power light works fine) - many belated thanks. Now just got to get all the interior stuff back in so I can take it for a drive. |

Interior now back in the car - just took it for a drive.
WOW what a difference the POWER mod makes, together with the Gear Firm-Up Unit. Take off at lights is way quicker than "normal" driving mode, it goes nearly to red-line before changing - then the gear change is super slick with no time-lag. Will take it out on highway later tomorrow. |
