Re: Tranny Housing Crack

It should just be replaced.
It would cost more money to have it welded than to have it replaced.

Unless you are joking, if so, you got me.

I don't think they sell JB Weld in 55 gal drums. At least not were I work at Lowes. JB weld is good stuff but not structurally strong enough for that job.
The Tranny would have to be removed and squeezed together.. IMHO. we have enough problems with the stock tranny and that would not help.. REPLACE it with a 4:44 . Consider it an opportunity not a problem. Good luck

This isn't mine  I found it in the junk yard! Reminded me of the Alumaloy commercials. It must have sounded like hell when it happened:eek:

That's amazing. It's hard to fathom the force that it would take to have that effect on the casing.

That's epic.. I'd love to hear the story behind that..

"Dude.. what's that noise?"

"Aww, don't worry about it, it's been doing that for time, it's nothing. It stopped leaving puddles in my driveway at least two weeks ago."

Re: Tranny Housing Crack

I exploded a front diff in my SVX before. It grenaded the pinion shaft, jammed it in the ring gear, and cracked the housing from axle-to plug-to axle.
