Re: Tranny Housing Crack
It should just be replaced.
It would cost more money to have it welded than to have it replaced. Unless you are joking, if so, you got me. |
Re: Tranny Housing Crack
OMG That's cavernous!
Duct tape? |
Re: Tranny Housing Crack
I don't think they sell JB Weld in 55 gal drums. At least not were I work at Lowes. JB weld is good stuff but not structurally strong enough for that job.
The Tranny would have to be removed and squeezed together.. IMHO. we have enough problems with the stock tranny and that would not help.. REPLACE it with a 4:44 . Consider it an opportunity not a problem. Good luck |
Re: Tranny Housing Crack
This isn't mine  I found it in the junk yard! Reminded me of the Alumaloy commercials. It must have sounded like hell when it happened:eek:

Re: Tranny Housing Crack
That's amazing. It's hard to fathom the force that it would take to have that effect on the casing.

Re: Tranny Housing Crack
Why don't ya buy it and see how the front diff looks like

Re: Tranny Housing Crack
That's epic.. I'd love to hear the story behind that..
"Dude.. what's that noise?" "Aww, don't worry about it, it's been doing that for time, it's nothing. It stopped leaving puddles in my driveway at least two weeks ago." |

I installed the FWD fuse to save gas mileage because now the back tires won't continue to rotate, the driveshaft no longer turns and, hey, WATCH THIS BURNOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rolleye s: |
Re: Tranny Housing Crack
I exploded a front diff in my SVX before. It grenaded the pinion shaft, jammed it in the ring gear, and cracked the housing from axle-to plug-to axle.

Re: Tranny Housing Crack

That wouldn't be usable. |
