Parking lot damage

Came out of work tonight and immediately saw the SVX didn't look right. I was hoping it was a trick of the light, but it wasn't. Anyhow they were nice enough to leave a note and insurance information. Not too bad really, but it does looks a little worse in person, even so I think the shop can pull the dent. Time to call the adjuster. :(

That sucks, Sean. :(
Lucky that they left a note and info. Typically seems as though you don't even get that. Best of luck getting her fixed back up again. :)

I am thankful that they left a note.
Everyone makes mistakes.
At least they owned up to it!

Someone tagged Christine twice this past year.

If I had more information my neighbors pigs would be fat!;)

Yes a class act, good to know there are still people like this in the world. The note he left:
I sideswiped your car pulling out of the parking lot tonight. I'm terribly sorry. Above is contact info and insurance info. Please let me know what else you need. Again - I'm very sorry.

Nice people... but their insurance company might not be. Just a heads up: rented a van last summer, someone backed into it in a parking lot and waited for us to return- shocker! Exchanged all contact info, had a witness who also waited (this was at Gettysburg, btw. We were all on vacation.)

Filled out some paperwork upon our return, it was pretty easy. Then, about two months ago, got a call from the rental car company's insurance handler who said that the card we chose to use to pay for the rental actually did not cover loss of use and administrative expenses like we were told it would AND that the other person's insurance company [insert lizard name here, begins with a G and ends in O] did not cover those either and when would I be sending in that $750 or whatever?

There was a happy ending, however. The guy immediately said that, if that's too much, he'd be willing to accept less. In the end, I agreed to pay him less- $0. Seems to have worked out so far; they quit calling.

I know that this isn't like what happened to you. Just a reminder that the road may be rocky ahead, which you probably know. You have nice people and my nice people who hit us were instrumental in denying the swindlers their slush fund money.

Good luck!

Well lets hope the thing is straight forward. I don't imagine it will require a new quarter to fix so it should be pretty reasonable to repair and I won't require a rental since that is my second vehicle, however I will take your advice and be on my toes.

Not at all, my quarter panel was much worse after my close encounter with a deer and I've managed to fix most of it myself with patience and a rubber mallet.

So sorry for your accident Sean.
This is the worst part to hit an SVX. Very hard to reach the underside area and straighten it out. :(

Sean, sorry to see that, great to see there are nice responsible people still out there. I wasnt so lucky, a few years ago, someone side swiped my legacy wagon in the same spot, but i had a hunch who it was, because i parked behind my wifes nephew when we lived in the same three family house, anyway he worked days and I nights, so I used to see him reverse past my car to turn around in a driveway behind us. Sure enough, when we questsioned him, he denied it at first, but then admitted it and paid me $300 for it. Good Luck, its an awful feeling.

Re: Parking lot damage

The adjuster came by when I was not there, then left me a voicemail saying they were going to be sending me a check. I was a little surprised that they didn't have me get a the estimate from a bodyshop, so now I need to take it to my bodyshop and find out if their estimate was enough. I think it will be, but you never know. Unfortunately I won't be able to have it appraised until Thursday.

These pics show the damage a little better. I'm mildly tempted to leave it an keep the money, but I won't.

Ouch again. Actually I revisit my previous post and say the difficulty level to fix it is 6/10.
Thought the damage was right above the rear wheel.

Good luck with fixing it Sean.

Yeah the first picture didn't show the full range of the dent. I'm sure it will be look good when done.
