Tire pressure for 225/45/17

Hi guys. I have done tons of research, and can't come to a solid conclusion. I have 07 STi bbs wheels on my SVX, and I want to know the optimal tire pressure to run in them. They are Hancock V12's. The max rating is 50 psi, so I Just put them around 45. The door panel (I realize this should be taken with a grain of salt, considering I don't have the stock tire size) said 29/32 I think? So I put them at that. Much too soft. I will be putting them at 34f/32r today after work. Is that a good pressure? I want the best fuel economy and performance. I hate the squishy feeling low pressure gives around corners, almost like I'm peeling the tires from the rims. I know this is one of those topics such as synthetic or regular oil, etc., but I would like to hear what you guys run, mostly from those that have STi wheels. :)

Hi,
I run 36F/33R on 225/45/17 Nitto NexGens on the STi BBS wheels, good compromise of ride and handling.

It's really up to you. My 245/40/17 General Exclaims are horridly mushy, so I run 40/35 to compensate.

When I had BBS wheels on my car, I ran within 5lb of max tire pressure and kept the % difference between front and rear consistent with the badge on the door. The badge on the door, even for stock wheels/tires is for comfort and imo, is much too mushy.

On stock rims and regular size wheels (Toyo Proxes C1S) my car kept dancing a lot with more pressure than 33/29. Driving was more exciting but mostly due to the element of danger, I think :)

Having read most of the postings on this forum going back years, this has been a long-time debate.

I've got that size tire on STi 17" wheels and have been running them at the OEM recommended pressures. I wasn't sure what else to use, but I didn't like the feel either -- mostly because of the tram lining the tires were doing. They're Bridgestone Potenza RE 070's.

I considered going with the recommended pressures for the STi, but even on those forums, there no consensus, and besides, they're not the same car.

Anyway, as of today, I'm trying 38F and 33R, which is the same ratio as OEM, to see if a stiffer ride feels any better.

After some around town and highway I'm much happier with the feel at 38F and 33R than the OEM recommended 33/29. Handling is crisp and no more tram lining.
