Anyone Remember the Cannonball Run?
The winner of the first sea to shining sea Cannonball Run in 1975 showed up at my son's shop. The owner of the building has a shop next door that restores and maintains classic European cars.

Re: Anyone Remember the Cannonball Run?
I LOVE the Ferrari Dino! I didn't realize that the race was real. The movie was great (Gumball Rally and Cannonball Run). I wonder if the SVX engine would fit in that car? A modified 400HP engine in that car would be a BLAST!

Re: Anyone Remember the Cannonball Run?
here is the other amazing part: it is 70's Ferrari and it stayed together for 3800ish miles!
if you like to read: Cannonball by Brock Yates is a great book. I own a copy and read it every now and then. |
Re: Anyone Remember the Cannonball Run?
There were some solo runs before 1975 but, '75 was one of a couple that was open invitation, with a dozen+ cars departing a secret location in NYC. Pick your own route, drive legal, drive safe.:D I remember PA being known as the gauntlet, State troopers laying in wait along the turnpike.
