Re: fixed door glass replacement

Raul, I've heard that it is not possible to remove the fixed glass while saving the seals and whatnot. However, with broken glass and putting a replacement pane in place, it may be possible. If it's not, you may end up needing a door.
Also, yours is bronze glass I think I remember from seeing your pics but don't quote me on that.

mines a 94 lsi in barcelona red. not a spec of rust:( if i need a whole door, i cant do it till next summer. with shipping and cost, i was hoping to find the glass, and spend a day redoing it.

Re: fixed door glass replacement

Raul, if I come across a red door on my trips, I'll give you a call with the info. I do have doors, one happens to be a claret but at least it has the bronze tint you would need and your car does kinda need paint anyway:lol:
If nothing else comes around. It's a rust free door from VA that I got from Somethingelse on one of my other trips to originally use for the Laguna.
Otherwise, if it's confirmed glass cannot easily be put in, post in the wanted forum for a barcelona red door with bronze tint. If its somewhere that I can get it, I have no problem picking it up for ya.:)

im tempted to pull the shattered glass out and see how it looks, but i dont want to do that if im not sure i can get the new glass in. what a pita...

and your not kidding about the paint! lol. when i washed the car, the paint peeled clear off of the sideskirts when i hit it with a hose!

Yeah, wait for a response from someone who might know. Or if I get ambitous I'll break the fixed glass on teh laguna doors i pulled off and test fit the glass i do have to see if it can be done..

Re: fixed door glass replacement

There were two guys actually told me that the upper fixed windows can be replaced.
They are auto body men. So I trust them.
Because I thought I found a black door with brown tint.

Then I found a part car with a similar color door with same color tint.
That makes it easier.

Re: fixed door glass replacement

I work for an auto glass company, and this can be done, but you will need the right adhesive and a steady hand to cut down the old glass/glue.

If your upper door glass is shattered, the replacement can be done without power tools. You will need to shave down the adhesive and remove all debris from the area. You can use an automotive grade urethane adhesive such as Sika 220/SikaCool/ or a Dow equivalent to properly install the glass.

My buddy that has a auto glass shop, has done one of those for me before, he cursed a bit while doing it, but got it done, looked like new.
