Lap belt retainer clip
My passenger side lap belt ('92 with mousetrap) isn't clipped to the seat making it difficult to dig out of the door jam and put on. It was only recently brought to my attention, but I have to assume that it's been that way since I got the car because I can't for the life of me re-thread it through there.
Does this clip (on the side of the seat near the hinge) come undone? There is a seam on the top, but it's all one piece of plastic so it doesn't want to open up. I've tried just forcing the buckle through the slot, but I don't want it to snap. Anybody ever deal with this before? |
Re: Lap belt retainer clip
Here's a picture of what I'm dealing with. The seatbelt isn't threaded through that narrow clip on the seat, so it retracts all the way back to where it comes out of the wall.

Re: Lap belt retainer clip
If I have this right, your belt isn't running up through the clip on the side of the seat. If you thread the belt up through the clip, it should stay there and be fine. If you bring it up through the clip and it keeps coming out, the clip is probably broken... if you don't have the clip on your seat, best you get one and put on it!
Hope this helps Keith:cool: |

Re: Lap belt retainer clip
I put a piece of rope through the buckle and pulled it through. I thought for sure it was gonna snap. I'm just paranoid from too many brittle plastic parts snapping off in my hand. Just wanted to check first.
Thanks. |
