Rear bearing Q
I just torqued down the axle nut to spec and now I can't even turn the hub by hand. Is something wrong here? Is it supposed to be very hard to turn the axle after installing a hub? I'm sure I could turn it with the wheel on but I can spin the side that wasn't replaced just fine.

Re: Rear bearing Q
hi what type pf tool did you use ,a press ? or a on the car tool
also did you torque it with the wheel off the ground ? if the bearing is loaded it will ruin it when you torque it ,correct torque spec 123 to 152 ftlbs |
Re: Rear bearing Q
Had to completely remove the hub again to see what the heck was going on. It turns out that the rubber seal from axle the hub was initially remove was still seated inside the knuckle :o
It was compressing against the knuckle making it impossible to get full torque on the axle nut while still allowing the axle to spin. Everything is working fine now and I've become much better had assembling drum brakes all the while remaining composed! |
