Cruise control - not working
OK so know that I have just spent $1k on tires (Falken ZE912) - my cruise control is now NOT working....
Push swich in - hear relay click on (under the glove box area) - but nothing happens. Is it controlled by Vacuum - if so I may have a leak somewhere not allowing the thing to function, any help would be great... Steve (1 OF 1) - with only 141,000kms for 1995 |

Re: Cruise control - not working
OK checked the hose - all fine, no cracks.....so where to now??

Re: Cruise control - not working
Are you sure the click was a relay and not the switch itself? if it was the switch check the fuse. Does your speedometer work?
|
Re: Cruise control - not working
Switch working & so is the relay under the dash..........as a side issue what is the "things" at each end of the cruse control hose.
1 is under the fuse box 2 is linked the throttle linkage. |
Re: Cruise control - not working
That little hose that michael showed you has to be pushed in until you can feel it clip or bite in there.. then go for a test drive. Clicks should be coming from the passenger side.
Unless you have rats eating your hose you will not have a problem, I thought mine was gone too. I have a 92 with 240,000kms :) |
Re: Cruise control - not working
If your speedometer is not working due to a bad of non working speed sensor your cruise will not work either. Check the cable next to the throttle cable on the throttle body too.

Re: Cruise control - not working
Speedo is working fine - will re-check hose near top

Re: Cruise control - not working
OK - got it going at last (hate things not working ANYWHERE) ---- I ended up taking the steering wheel indicator area apart & measured the resistance on the cruise control stalk switch - hey NO it was just open circuit all the time no matter what direction I tried, so out came the deoxit, quick spray & working back in a flash, put it all back together & she it so sweet now.
The car is not my DD so figure that oxide buildup over the years finally took their toll.... anyway thoiught I would share that gem. thanks to all Steve in New Zealand (1 OF 1) |
Re: Cruise control - not working
Glad to hear you got it sorted out. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. Mine may need the same treatment, you have to click it twice to get it on. Was your light on the button coming on when you heard it click?

yes see early posting....

Re: Cruise control - not working
Unrelated issue:
In the dash (under the instrument cluster) the button to hit to enable the cruise control is not 100%... It's a 'toggle' switch but without a micro... generally, you push it in and it goes ahead and lights up. Now for quite some time I find I have to push it several times because when I push it in, it lights up, but switches off as soon as I let it go. It's almost as if it's either thinking I've pressed it twice (i.e. it travels too far and registers as two 'pushes') or it is tripping out. Usually a couple of pushes and it stays on. It's bothersome, but it's not the end of the world. I haven't taken it apart to really look at it, but I figured I'd throw it out there now that Surtees is all good, and see if anyone else has had the same problem and if/how they fixed it. |
