Intake
Has anyone bought the intake system from motor sport warehouse? If so what are your experiences with it? Does it help with anything or does it make anything worse off?
|
i bougth a 20.00 intake while i was on nopi tour , a verry nice piece got a 3" pvc pipe adapter and bammm its dont, 30.00 and 10 more hp maybe,, ? maybe, LOL
its helps,, makes the car grunt.. never have to replace the darn thing and geta few extra ponies,, why not |
what's up
I think the best thing to do if you were going to modify the intake would be to buy the cone filter setup, and then insulate it from the air under the hood somehow, it would take some fabrication but it could definately be done with a little know how and patience-- to help you understand the theory behind my opinion check out this site, go to air filters...... hope that helped some :D http://my.voyager.net/~tmclane/index.html

Roger: I received the intake today, hope to get it setup either tomorrow or Friday.
Dayle said that they got the new K&N High Flow air filters in (which is what I got). To me, that's better than buying a shady brand intake =P~ Still, I'm not sure if it is worth the whole $89, but we'll see how my times and performance aspects change =P Unfortunately, I am adding both the intake and muffler, so results will be according to having both of those in... Unless of course, I do not get the muffler intalled right away =P I have pictures in my locker of the Magnaflow #12266, K&N filter, and decals if anyone is interested. -scooch |

With the K&N did u only receive the filter? I thought that you received other parts with it like a air flow thinga magig? Let me know cause if its only the filter I can get that from pep boys
|
Well, it comes with an adapter (silver thing), which is why I took so much pictures of it.. I'm guessing the filter will run you ~$30-50, I'm not sure if you can find the adapter. Granted, the adapters probably won't cost you $35+, I'm not one to go looking for those.. And I wasn't sure what part # I needed, so I'm a bit comfortable spending the $89 on it =P

what I did is, I put a KNN replacement filter in the box. Then I took the silencer unit in the fender and made a straight tube and tied it from the bottom of the bumper to the filter box. that way I have the coolest air nature can give me comin' in the filter. It's easy, low cost and looks original.:D

Intake
Do you have any pictures of this intake u made?
|
OK. Got the intake in. Not too hard at all, did it myself in ~half an hour, give or take (probably give, eheh), so i'm not sure if I did it correctly or anything, but still ;p
With my instinct and a stop watch (how lame is that? =P), I timed the 0-60 yesterday night (without the intake) and it varied from 8.8 to 9.53 seconds.. Ran one today (with the intake), was 8.4 sec.. These aren't too accurate, I'm hoping to get some on a straight road later on. I'm not sure if it did help or not. 8-9 seconds for a 0-60 is pretty bad regardless. The previous owner did quite a job pushing the engine =\ Otherwise, it has a good sound, and that's what I was kinda looking for. I have yet to await the long term affects (gas mileage, etc). Hopefully the muffler will help me out, too. -scooch |
hey guys......
your best bet is to drop in a k&n replacement filter and take off your intake resonator.
just remember that the svx engine bay is a very hot place. if you have one of those big exposed cone filters it is going to suck up a lot of hot air. hot air kills hp. |
I'll try to have the pics by friday night or saturday morning. u won't see much since most everything is in the fender. hopefully it will come out fine. later.;)
|
question
With the drop in K&N how much hp will that make? Also how hard is it to take out the intake resonator? And if I take out the resonator does it sound as if I had a real intake?
|
not much of anything but a growl.
|
What does the resonator look like? i have a K&N drop in that was installed by the previous owner. I don't know if he removed the resonator or not
|
i can take pics of the air resonator..you won't believe the size of it I have the KC intake kit...conical air filter, air resonator removed.
