How do I setup a new key fob?

I lost the directions to mine and forgot how.. something like turn the key to ON, machine gun the security button while holding the keyless entry button, dance on your head, spin around three times, etc. Tried searching and browsing the how-to's but can't find anything.

http://svx-iw.com/ under FAQ then 15 - Security

15.1.1 - How do you reprogram the remote keyless entry transmitter
I tried to do it with a new transmitter I bought on line at subarupart, but I could not get it to work. While I was at the Subaru dealer I asked them if they could give it a try. Three guys got together, blew dust off some old instructions and gave it a try with no luck.

Thanks for the link. Mine was working before but I have to reprogram it every time the battery is disconnected.

Ricochet 04-15-2008 04:34 PM

um, those directions are wrong mine won't work.. can't even get the horn to honk to confirm.

I had the same problem with a "NEW" key fob from subaruparts.com. I had to change the battery even though the key fob is brand new, the battery was sitting since 95??

That's odd, I could have sworn that wasn't in the how-to's when I tried earlier. Oh well, thanks.

Suby Fan 04-18-2008 08:01 AM

To all the people that can't get their keyless entry system to work the module likes to granade it's self if allowed to sit... same thing happened to mine

Ricochet 04-18-2008 04:58 PM

Those directions in the how-to's is the same, and doesn't work for me still :(. The light works on my remote when I hit the button, but the car won't go into programming mode.

CorSVXette 04-19-2008 02:50 AM

"The light works on my remote"??? What light? The OEM remote does not have a light! If you have an aftermarket remote, you may have to follow the directions that came with that remote.

Ricochet 04-19-2008 07:20 AM

It's aftermarket. And why would the directions be any different to put the car into programming mode?

CorSVXette 04-19-2008 08:42 AM

OK My bad. I didn't read your last post correctly. So when you hit the security button on and off rapidly, your horns don't beep? If so, then I would say your security module is shot or security button, or maybe a fuse? Just guessing here. Sorry I can't be more help. I am new to the SVX family.

Ricochet 04-19-2008 02:08 PM

The LED on the security button works.. the alarm sounds so the system works.. I just can't seem to get her into programming mode. I turn the key to ON then all the way OFF and rapid-fire the button.. doesn't honk or anything.

CorSVXette 04-19-2008 02:12 PM

Sorry Brian. I am out of ideas. Maybe someone with some electrical knowledge will chime in. Sorry I couldn't have been more help. :(
