Nissan GT-R

Now why couldn't Subaru produce a car that looks something like this instead of the super ugly WRX/STi.
I suspect that this car will steal the market. Looks like a real winner to me!!!!!!!!!!! Particularly with a 11.7 quarter and 193MPH top speed. All of that and a beautiful car--in my opinion. Not to mention awesome HP ratings--depending on what version hits the US. http://www.edmunds.com/il/nissan/skyline/ Lee |
Awesome car, yes, but it's competing Porsche/Vette territory in terms of pricing, way over the sport compact area. The only people that will convert from sport compacts are Infinity G35/37 owners and that sort of thing I think.

Styling is up to interpretation.
I personally hate it. While I think the WRX is ugly, its much nicer than the GT-R. The rear isn't bad, but the front accosts my eyes every time I see it. |
little off topic...
While looking at LA Auto show pics of the new GT-R, I saw this car from the 80's reborn. The Vector WX8. "From the press release: predicted top speed of 275mph, max 1,850hp and 1,700 torques @ 6,000 rpm, price N/A."

the GTR is rumored to be around $70k. i don't think they'll be converting. |
Each time I see this car, I am falling in love with it more and more...
I just cannot think that the design can get any better for a sports car. The rear, the sides, the front fenders... the front side... and around 500hp's, TT and AWD .. Damn! that car is just... FREAKIN' PERFECT! It is definitely gonna be my next purchase in the future. But I wouldn't buy it in the first two years of production, Nissan always has revisions and issues in their sports cars. The 350Z gearbox was revised near 5 times so far. They had issues grinding in 2nd and 3rd gears. Also the early Z's were not fully equipped (bremboz, forged rims, etc...). You never know, the GT-R might experience the same "deja vu" history :D So 2011 will hopefully be the date where SS meets GT-R :D |
I like it. I'd buy that before i bought a z06 corvette or anything else in that price range.

That said, I can think of much better things to waste 70K on. |

This car is going to be the dog's b....x. Nissan may even be thinking of racing again, a road test shows the ride quality to be hard, even on the softest setting. I'm also grimly amused at the height of the raised eyebrows on the $70K price tag! The Euro equivalent of your $70k over here is 46K Euro. That amount of money will buy you an Impreza WRX here in Ireland. A Nissan 350Z costs Euro58.5K here, or in your money $88,000. And the nice Mr Nissan is planning to sell you a 500hp AWD 190 mph supercar for a paltry $70,000, and you fellows think this is a steep price!!:eek::eek: You guys really don't know how well off you are as regards what you have to pay for performance cars. Joe;):) BTW, your lovely pics are titled R34, it should be R36;) |

Its that bad in Ireland  ... I know guys on the little islands like bemuda pay almost twice the price, and thats like out in the middle of nowhere One guy was telling me he paid a discounted 36k for his econobox that would normally fetch about 20K here.

Looked at another way, it's that good in the USA is probably closer to the mark.:) I suspect US prices are way cheaper than anything in Europe. Joe:) |
Well... we do pay a lot less for gas :)
