Driver's door doesn't want to lock
Okay, this one is starting to be a bit of a pain, so I'm looking for some help from anyone who's had this happen to them. I checked old threads before posting, so I've already pulled the 15A door lock fuse under the dash (middle column, second from top) and pulled off the door panel so I can see what's happening with the latch. I've also disconnected both of the connectors that plug into the lock solenoid, and the lock still wont "lock" when I try to push the lock button down. I would think - from a safety standpoint - that the lock should lock/unlock with no power to it. Am I wrong? If I'm right, does this mean the solenoid has just crapped out in the unlocked position and I need to replace it?
Thanks in advance for everyones' help. -Bill |
The lock button is purely mechanical. It should work even when there is no power to the door locks. You need to remove the lock and have a look at it, or just get one from a breaker.

Thanks. I thought that was probably the case:(
