what does the throttle body bypass do?

i've been checking out some of the how-to documents in the forum and came across the throttle body bypass..the mod seems simple enough..but i was just wondering what exactly does it do.??//?

Coolant is routed through the throttle body as a precaution for colder climates, so they do not freeze up due to huge volumes of icy air rushing through it.

The bypass "mod" reroutes this coolant, or "bypasses" the TB and keeps it at a slightly cooler temp so the incoming air does not heat up quite as quickly or as much.

thanks for the info
i was really hoping that i wouldn't get a "do a search and you'll find out" kind of reply...though i wouldn't be surprised if i did anyways.

I'm not into that habit. Repetition keeps the answers fresh.

Seeing where you live, Gates of Hell, you should be able to use the mod year round.

Those of us living up north can only use it as a summer mod. Some members have installed an inline valve to make the seasonal changeover even easier.

Yesterday on my drive to work I saw 2 degrees, this morning it was 'much' warmer, 7 degrees . . .

My Nokian Studded Hakkapeliitta 2's are earning their keep, it's fun passing the idiots at the side of the road chaining up or stuck in ditches! :D

I wish it would warm up for a few days, I have a pile of logs to cut up for fire wood, but they're frozen together . . .

what kind of performance increase are you seeing with this mod? thats really my only question.

DarknessofDeath 12-18-2005 01:35 PM

i was wondering what it was. if it was worth doing or looking into. i saw some signatures with the mod listed and took a look at the how to doc. tha'ts all.

i dont even think it would be a performance increase.
