Don't want to part with my svx

I have a clean 96' LSi w/ 102000 miles on it. $600 stereo. $1000 rims.

If I was to sell it, what should I ask for through a private deal or what I can expect to get trying to trade it in..

I really need a better gas mileage car, just a very poor college student. =(

I definitely know where you're coming from. I'm also a poor college student at the U of I, and I'm also going to sell my SVX.

I'm estimating that you can get at least $6000 for it through a private party, and around $4000 for a trade-in. These numbers are off the top of my head but I think they are still accurate. Heck, there is a '96 LSI for sale at my local dealership and they are asking $12000!!! The mileage is around 100K too.

Good luck to you.

Do a private deal. For a dealership, it's worthless. The auction price for a SVX in midwest in clean condition with around 90k miles for a 97 SVX is around 5-6k.

That's the price a dealer will pay for a car. And for financing companies, it's harder to finance a car with over 100k so most dealers will not even give you a good deal for trading in.

I'll pay you 4500. BTW, for a dealer, 600 dollar sound system and 1000 bucks rims mean nothing.

So true! You're better off selling the stereo and rims seperately from the car. You'll make more money that way...

doesn't sound that far-fetched.. a red i think 96 LSi near my house is on sale for $5500 w/ close to 170k miles on it. crazy dealers.. crazier buyers.. :P

Seraph ... thanks for the offer. let me sleep on it. =]

drivemusicnow 06-01-2004 11:59 PM

depending on how clean it is it could go from 4000 to 8000... give us some pictures! i'd like to see the wheels, and stereo for that matter. also would help get a better basis for price. (do you NEED to sell it? cause if you don't, you should buy a cheap CRX for the gas mileage, and then you wouldn't have to worry about taking a low offer. thats what we did with my moms legacy outback... got $10.5k on an 98 outback with 80k miles about 8 months ago. we just never felt pressured into selling it, cause it really didn't matter if we did, or didn't
