Outback Trannie Question
 

A friend of mine asked me this morning about a problem with the trannie in his Outback. It's an '01 5spd wagon with 90K. The problem is that it's stuck in 4th, the shifter will not budge, and when he let's the clutch out, the engine dies. It won't even roll when the clutch is in. Anyone have any ideas?

it might've gotten jammed somehow. i used to drive a benz jeep (army) and its tranny would get stuck in a certain gear sometimes. we'd have to crawl under there and pull it free... i don't think he could do that with his ob!

i think a visit to the dealer, or to a tranny shop, is in order...

Yep... take it to the dealer and have them look at it...
