Production #

I've seen several members of the "network" include what number their car was for a given production year (i.e., "my car was #138 in 1993"....). Question, how do you figure this out? Is it embedded in the VIN somehow?
Thanks.

David,
So, if I read your post correctly, the VIN you used would be for vehicle number 1, 101 of model year R?
Thanks.

p.s. oh, great, and I've got a '92:p...what number did they start with if not 1?

Lwin (Seraph) is the VIN expert here. He calculated approximately what the first SVX off the line had for a VIN...something like ....1101

I'm too lazy to search for the post.

David,
Thanks....I should have put my "thinking cap" on first and done a search... Did one on "VIN" and got this old thread (submitted by red95svx)

SVX VIN's...Where are they now??

I spent a few hours fooling around at work last week with the Subaru computer and found some info on early 92 and 95 M.Y. SVX's.

For 95 M.Y. :

VIN# JF1CX3354SH100001 is the start of the 95 M.Y. and is currently owned by someone in Newton, PA. They own the first 95! It's an "L" model w/AWD and is Emerald Green (which I think should read "Polo Green").

VIN # JF1CX3352SH100002 is also an "L" model w/AWD, it's also Emerald (Polo) Green, and it is also in PA. This one is in Newton.

For 92 M.Y. :

JF1CX3537NH100060 is the lowest VIN I could find. It has a production date of 5/91 and was received at a Michigan dealer on 8/12/91. It is owned by a woman who lives in Ortonville, MI.

JF1CX3438NH100070 is owned by a woman in Golden, Colorado. It was checked into a Colorado dealers inventory on 8/12/91 and sold a few months later. It too has a production date of 5/91.

Some more early 92 M.Y. VIN's:

VIN JF1CX3535NH100090 is in Coppell, TX and
VIN JF1CX3534NH100100 is in Elkhart, IN.

Now I guess I'll have to go out tomorrow and see what # mine is ;)
