How can I keep cruise control button on dash on all the time?

My cruise control switch is finicky and I'd just like to keep it on all the time, so I can use it whenever I need without jiggling the damn switch til it lights. Help!

There is no way to get it on all the time that I am aware of...
However, you seem to have some vaccume issue. Check the vaccume hose that leads into the Throttle body and make sure that it is not loose.

Try hitting it real quick. Mine works each time when I do that. If I don't hit it real quick the button does not hold. Another goofy thing it's done for years.

I don't know and have not thought about the consequences, but perhaps you can find the switch wires and jump across them. see attached diagrams (sorry for the negative images, haven't figured out that adobe program yet).

You can't jump them because it is a momentary switch.

You could replace the switch with a relay pulse after the car starts, but that's about it.

You could also tap a new momentary switch into the harness to have a reliable push button for turning the cruise on.

Maybe wedge something between the button and the side, such that the button is always held down. Don't have my car here so can't try right now,

The problem is most likely to the oxidation of relay contacts (cruise control has 2 relays, one is activated when the yellow light is on, the other is when it is actually working). Relay contacts are the place to jump wires, but I'm not sure whether the cruise control computer will like it. The relays and the controlling unit are behind the glove compartment in dashboard.

I've always wanted mine to stay on all the time too.
The cruise button in the XT6 does stay on all the time unless I turn it off, don't see why it would hurt the cruise control unit, as long as it only had power when the car was running.
It'd be the same as reaching up and turning it on as soon as you started the engine.

Try spraying the switch with contact cleaner. I know if I don't hit mine for a week or 2 it takes a few tries to get it working. If I turng it on at least 1x a week, it works fine.

I've found that if you do hold the switch in while the car is turned to the "ON" position then it does light up, and stays lit while starting the car. I think I will wedge a small piece of plastic in there to hold the switch in.
