Re: Universal lips
Wow I wish I had thought of selling those on e-bay...
It's actually rubber garage door sealer that you can get at Home Depot for about $8. It's become somewhat popular in the WRX crowd now. Most people attach it with 3M double sided tape, but I've seen some screw it on also. It actually doesn't look bad, but if you want to use it, please don't waste your money on ebay. Just go to the hardware store and save yourself $30. The shipping in that ad itself is more expensive than the product itself at the hardware store. Edit: Here is a "How to" thread on nasioc for a newer variation of the lip. Same basic concept though... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hlight=diy+lip |

I can't remember what Subaru, I think it was a GC8 Impreza, they put on the black rubber wall molding for like commercial buildings lol. It looked ghetto. If there's something that closer represents this, that'd be better. ;) |

I went to The Home Depot and bought gutter gaurd. They come in long peaces/strips, that have a slight bow through out the middle. Sometimes I see them in a pack other times there loose. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...-100012640-_-x They come with like 2 or 3 small metal clips on it. I bent them off. You can see one in the picture. Then I made a templete by tracing an outline of the grille on paper and I left about an inch or so on the top. I put it to the guttergaurd and cut it out with tin snips. However I cut it out a little bigger than the template incase it was to short. And from there I kept bending it and cutting it to fix the contore/surface of the grille. Sanded off the sharp edges with sand paper. And something I should have done was tape/cover around the perimiter of the stock mesh cause I made little surface scratch marks from taking it in and out so much when I was cutting it. I still want to pant it silver this way it don't rust or oxidize. Even though its starting to after 2 years or so, I'll sand it out. Right now mine is being held up with black electrical tape to match the black top part. It took me around an hour it wasn't to bad. Pretty easy. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...rothers141.jpg I can take pics of it this weekend. I'll try to make a thread for it this weekend. |
Re: Universal lips
