i'm sure that will be the new look, but i highly doubt the u.s. version will be a hatchback.

there's been rumors swirling about lately that the next Impreza platform will be smaller and lighter - following Mitsubishi's lead with their next EVO platform. notice the Alfa-like rear section - thanks Zapatinas.

i'm afraid this may be real. :(

My thoughts exactly but for the STI? it looks cool to me except the alpha grill which BTW I still dont care for.

 Holy crap! I really like that! The back/side looks kinda celica-ish though...

SilverSpear 04-14-2005 01:27 AM

the damn thing looks very italian!!!   and in my opinion it is very ugly!!! a hatchback impreza!!! those guys must be making more money out of rallying more than selling cars!!!
I bet 1000% that Prodrive asked subaru to manufacture hatchback impeza's for 2007. as it did with the 99 impreza, subaru manufactured the impreza according to Prodrive's specs. and when Prdrive is realizing that hatchbacks are now winning, like citroens, peugeots, etc... they are switching to that ugly cars look!
Subaru must be making more money from rallying than from selling cars for normal use....

Actually Subaru has had a decent record in rallying for these past two years, the only other manufacturer that is outright doing better than them currently is Citroen. But I don't think it has anything to do with their rally car being a hatchback. At least Mitsubishi now is finally catching up and the Lancer is not a hatch back either, not that I am a Mitsubishi fan I am just pointing out the obvious that the EVO is not a hatch. ;)

IMHO, this Alfa stlye grill a lot looks better than the one the put on the Tribeca.

I'm with Larry, That front end is the least ugly I've seen Subaru do since they started the whole "new" front design.

And It'll be good to at least have a 2 door (or 3-door if you prefer) in the Subaru line-up...

Hopefully though this time it won't outway its 4 door brother by 200 or so pounds like the RS and Impreza coupes did.
