FWD and no light
Damn.
My car is giving such a pain I might just throw it off a cliff. Not that it aint running. But tonight I went around a bit and it was raining. I've driven my car on gravel yesterday and i know for a fact that it was AWD. But now, it shifts on its own, even in 'manual' mode, and 1st gear.I have to stop, get it through all gears from P to 1 so it finally does what I ask from it.But not only that, I had front wheel spin with absolutely no assistance from the rear wheels, and no lights on the dash. What would cause that? Drive axles failure?Computer crap?Bad diff? There is no noise coming from the back, although I heard ONE clunk today, and it wasn't that bad. This car has about 160000 miles on it and its acting weird on me EVERY DAY! |
Re: FWD and no light
One possible cause is your rear clutch drum in the back of the tranny has sheered off from the shaft. You wont get any codes. I guess you can jump the c soloniod to put it in 50/50 mode.

Re: FWD and no light
On mine the AWD quit because the left rear axle had partially popped out of the rear differential. There's a circlip on the inboard end of the axle to hold it in place and somehow mine failed.

Re: FWD and no light
I'll have it checked for a popped axle

Re: FWD and no light
I'm betting it's a messed up rear clutch drum. Fix it now before you blow the front differential!

Re: FWD and no light
I still think my AWD is hit or miss. It could be that I'm used to a manual tranny and the 50/50 split, but it just seems like my car doesn't handle as good as it should. The snow tires helped out immensely, but I'm still left thirsting for more. I really need to hit the lottery so I can do my 6mt swap :D

Re: FWD and no light
I would not expect a car running at 50/50 to handle well at all.
I forced the car into FWD and drove all night with absolutely no problems whatsoever, from the car stalling for no reason to weak/irregular acceleration. Obviously it might get better power output since half the drivetrain is unused, but it never drove this good before.Which is weird if you ask me... How do i fix that drum clutch?Get a replacement? And how much will it cost? |

you cant run the car at 50 50 at all times cause it will bind on every turn. Ask AWDinc for the parts you need. they got trannys out tha ying yang. Try to verify your problem first before you go buying parts. Talk with one of the Toms! |

Have you checked for codes? If not, it would be very worthwhile to do so, both ECU and TCU. The above could indicate a speed sensor problem, depending on how the information is interpreted. The FWD light is not intended to indicate a diagnosed fault, and is an indication that this mode has been selected by fitting the fuse. |
