my friends sti... rolled

my buddy lent his car to a friend to drive down to the minneapolis and the kid swerved to miss a deer and rolled 4 times. 4 were in the car and 2 were ejected and from what it sounds like arent doing to good. i talked to the kid, who is kinda pissed and he might sell me the 6 speed :) but check it outhttp://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27644

Ejected = no seat belt = fail. Ya gotta wear 'em in the back, too! --> <clicky>

Oh ya, the old swerved to miss the deer story. I've used that one a few times myself. Good thing deer don't make reliable witnesses.

Never never ever lend your car to a friend to drive to Minneapolis.
Especially if it's a WRX. There is no good ending to that story.
"What was he thinking?"

+1276312349817928347 on wearing seatbelts

i dont understand why its such a problem!!

its the easiest thing in the world; get in the car, buckle up. thats it.

almost every vehicle accident these days where theres a death involved is because someone wasnt wearing a seatbelt...

end of rant.

I flipped a Subaru GL hatchback years ago, coming to rest on the roof. Standard, manual 3-point belt, which I was wearing; no airbag. At some point in the tumble the driver's-side door opened, and I've often wondered if I would have walked away with minor cuts and bruises had that car been equipped with dopey "passive" seat belts. Does anyone know if there's some sort of defeat circuitry to keep these belts from retracting if the door opens in a crash?

hmmm...I have my doubts. But, I think if the door flies open there probably won't be much tumbling left and the car will come to rest before the seatbelt can retract enough to let you be ejected.

WOW. Thats something. I've never seen a flipped sti before. They don't lie when they say seatbelts save lives. My friend learned that the hard way. :(
