question on pads
What are the best brake pads to put on my SVX? The ones i have on now squeal like hell.

most all brands of semimetallic are going to create some brake squealing....some worse than others
you can go to some of the high performance jobbies, and get better braking performance, but sacrifice a shorter life of the pads |
I wouldn't worry about it....
Just get a set of semi-met from pretty much any place. I have bought better pads in the past, found they really didn't help much at all. I'm sure they cut my stopping distance down by a whopping 4 feet or so, however not worth the price in my opinion. Also like coca said they wear out VERY fast, expect to replace at least twice a year if you drive pretty aggressively.

I have full organic pads. They don't sound anything at all.

Organic pads?
O.K. now I feel REALLY dense! (not a WORD Aredub!) The only organic pads I know of, have frogs sitting on them. Care to fill me in Lwin on what you are using there? Don

Organic pads are VERY common on read drum brakes. In fact, chances are they don't even make a set of semi-met for the drums on most cars. I can't buy them for my Sunfire either. Semi-met's are usually only on disc brakes. They are kind of a "paper" like pad. They wear out slow and don't squeel, but they don't stop very fast.

I've got a set of PBR pads on the front, and they are silent.
Except when I back up, but that's because my front left caliper is seized and in need of a rebuild. ;) VK |

I am missing out
With the recent car trouble and computer in different OS and what not, I had been really really busy. I seem to be missing out/seemed to have skipped on a decent amount of posts. Sorry guys
