Do you know that the radio won't work? Euro frequencies are different.

There is one on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=160272113544

They are quite good units considering their age, I had one in my Legacy for a while. The sound quality and volume is marginally better than the Legacy unit but not brilliant. Would probably sound better with decent speakers.

Single DIN. AM/FM radio and logic-controlled cassette deck. Controls for the boot mounted 12 disk CD changer and a line in jack socket on the front for a MP3 player or whatever.

FM frequency range is 88 to 108 Mhz in steps of 0.4.

If you don't get that one, try calling Richard at Bucks Subaru on +44 1494 564 555
I think I saw an SVX stereo unit on the shelf there last time I visited.

Dave,
My understanding is that only the JDM market uses different frequecies than we do...
Maybe one of our European SVXers can confirm this info...

and b3lha, is that a stock SVX deck?, as it looks very different than the US, and the JDM one....(Thanks for the link, by the way);)

Yes. That's a stock UK SVX deck. It is completely different to the JDM one. The plugs at the back are also different and it only has one antenna socket.

The UK frequencies are 88-108Mhz. The JDM ones are 76-90Mhz. You can get a band shifter to put inline with the aerial cable if these don't match up with what you need.

US is also 88-108.....

But you say they have a different connector?
As the JDM one I have uses the same connector as the US version....

I'd like to see the back of one...

Most decks can be converted internally - there is normally a diode that has one fixed end & the other end gets moved 90 degrees on the circuit board, thereby giving you the finer steps & the correct frequency band area, I did this back in New Zealand for a friend of mine when he imported a 05 STI from Japan....

It's not so much the spacing, as it is that in the UK the frequencies are even spaced instead of odd spaced, (99.0, 99.2 instead of 99.1, 99.3, etc...)

Strange that my local radio station (in the UK) is Metro Radio 97.1:)

Re: WTB Stock Euro stereo deck

maybe it's the rest of Europe and not the UK? Not sure, I just read it somewhere but it has been a while. That and my dad's JVC receiver has a switch on the back for Even or Odd FM spacing, so they've got to be odd-spaced somewhere...
