4 sale?

Hi all

I am sad to announce that my baby is coming up for sale. Maybe. Actually now that I am writing this I think it is the wrong decision! awwww i love you svx........

Chris and I are moving to the Philippines for work and svx will have to <heart breakingly> leave.

133 000kms, 12 months rego, 4 brand new tyres (3 weeks ago), new shocks from Japan , maintained by Subaru rally team......

on the downside the dash is discoloring from the sun, a few scratches on wheels from parking on kerb, slight damage from friend running into back of me, i'll be honest!

keep or sell, keep or sell? My other option is to store it and in the meantime get respray, all faults fixed and have it returned to original condition for my return in March 2007

My vote too. You may never get a SVX that you can do that with. Good luck. :)

Thanks for advice guys, while driving home in sweltering 30 degree dusk temp just then, roof open svx felt superb :)

James are you and Cassie moving back to Sydney soon?

I have an itchy trigger finger for another SVX, but I need to sort out some things first.

IIRC your was in very good condition, and just might be the kind of thing I am looking for to garage and "save for the future".

name a price, im keen :)

i should get rid of the 944...

MisanthropyV 12-30-2005 01:04 AM

I think sell it.

I'm actually going to sell mine too... as soon as I give the wiper blades a new coat. Repair the sunroof and remove any small stone chips...

Mr Soob, you may have a Yeti yet...

I'll tell you guys first about the sale before anyone else, of cause.

Going to miss the best car I'm likely to own, but need a cheaper commuter...

Paulie. :(

What is happening! All the people from the beginning are offloading their SVX's!!

I was in the same position as Moshol - I seriously thought about leaving my SVX in storage but the cost would have been very high and we did not really know how long we would be over here (its not far off 2 years at the moment and we had initially planned 12 months) so if I had taken that route, I would have come back to a car that had little if any use for a number of years which is NOT a good idea.

So I sold it.

Financially, it made better sense too rather than having an asset worth a fair chunk of money just sitting there.

The sheer cost of bringing the SVX with me knocked that idea out.

Personally, I would sell it - you have had it, used it and enjoyed it and can always buy another one when you return.

Here, I am crawling the walls as the cars are dirt cheap but the insurance is not (especially as a percentage of the value of the car!)

1995 Mercedes S320 LWB with EVERY option including electrically operated rear seats (heated) and seperate climate control, 72,000miles, two owners are full history - 3,500 pounds (thats about 8,000 AUD)
Insurance: 1,200 pounds - thats 3rd property damage fire and theft

RIP
OFF

Good luck with the move

(Cassie says hello too)

Cheers

James

Wedding cars.......

Thanks for the advice all, sorry about late reply, have been on holidays.

I have more exciting news- Chris and i are engaged! He asked on New Years eve afternoon in the middle of a sweltering 39 degree bush walk through the Carnarvon George in central Queensland. I have always dreamt of svx wedding cars... ahhhhh hmmmm. That could be a condition of the sale- i would like to come in in a lambo with dad but the rest of the party can come in svxs :) anyone want to drive? would be an awesome cruise!

Svx has new rego from today and i would like to keep it up until i leave. Price is negotiable at $22k Maybe i will buy it back when i return!

Congratulations on the engagement. I hope you will be very happy together.:D

I hate to see you selling the car. However, James' advice is probably correct, you could come back and enjoy the hunt for a new one.

You are sure to be able to get one, but I suspect if you were looking for a pristine low mileage one in two years' time, hen's teeth and a long wait come to mind.

Best of luck in the Phillipines, and keep posting.

Joe:)
