Replacing Knock Sensor and O2 Sensor

Pulled my codes got a 28(left side knock sensor) and a 37(left side o2 sensor) . I went through the how to's and searched but saw nothing for the knock sensor or o2. Could someone link me to a walk through of the this.

Many thanks

I'm not sure we have a "how-to" for knock sensors and O2 sensors. You'll definitely find info on replacing both if you use the "search" feature for the network. I've got pics in my locker on the replacement of knock sensors. O2 sensors are pretty straight forward. Make sure you get a good O2 sensor socket that works with a 1/2 inch ratchet wrench. The electrical connector disconnects using a thin straight blade screwdriver (check the connector on your new O2 sensor to see how you have to insert the blade and just turn it slightly to unlatch the connector.

Seeing how difficult it can be to do the knock sensors, I think I'll just replace them when the engine's out this winter and the intake is off. Preventative maintenance so I don't have to go throught the hassel of doing it with the intake on.

You can find a 'how to' on the O2 sensors on svx-iw.com under svxipedia, exhaust. Good luck.

I did search but nothing came up. I take it I will not be able to change the knock sensor myself from what your saying about waiting til your engine is taken out. Can the O2 sensor be done by one person.

Knock sensors can be done with the engine in, but removing the intake manifold would make it hugely easier. O2 sensors are easy for anyone to do.

Here's the link to Bill's (SVXRide) locker showing how to get the knock sensors: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?SVXRide|23979

The O2 's are very simple and I swear that I saw a how to on doing the knock sensors here somewhere. Subaru pays 1 hour to do both knock sensors, so you should be able to do it in a couple of hours. I remember you need to remove the alternator to do the pass side one and just use a swivel socket (or was it a ratchet wrench?) to do the drivers side. I just pulled my intake because I had some vac leaks to take care of as well.
