SVX JDM Sighting in Japan

Saw this last Friday while at Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan (excuse photo - used my cell phone camera).

Belong to anyone here?

This is only the third SVX I have ever seen in person (besides mine). It looked strange seeing the interior with everything a "mirror image" It had no spoiler and was silver and black.

Nice sightning. I never saw an SVX when I was in Osaka... :(

Great shot - Thanks for sharing with us. :)

check out the mirrors!!!!!, they are both folded !!!! I guess this car has the electric folding mirror option !!!!! don't you agree? they guy couldn't go to both sided to fold up his mirrors manually... especially that the car is parked for a little while (on the road side !)

I'm from Osaka and last time I went back for 2 weeks, I have seen just one SVX...which is sad!

Do you want those corners??? they are available over here at subaru dealership... over here the dealership has this model, not those with the yellow light inside..

I think the spoiler was a US/Canada option. All the pics I see of non-North America SVX's are spoiler-less.

thats pretty cool is it of any use to have the mirrors fold like that ?

SVXRide 12-13-2004 01:22 PM

What you're looking at is the JDM rear view mirrors. They're made to fold in like that - I've been told it is a requirement in Japan, given the narrow streets (you fold them in when you're parked). Mike (Green1995SVX) had them on his car and I believe there are a couple other cars in the states with them installed. It is not a straight "plug'n'play" install, as the mirrors are set up for right hand drive and there is a different switch for them (wiring!).
-Bill (regretting reading this thread, as now I'm going to have to start thinking about installing my set of JDM mirrors...)

Yeah, the mirrors are cool but not very useful here. Great for car shows though.

Well all the Australian cars came with them, they were all Lsi models, with VTD.

Dave,

Are you referring to all spoilers or just the US version? Dayle sells the JDM spoiler which a couple of people have on their cars (like Green1995SVX did on his former 5spd).

The US style spoiler was also used on Aussie cars as this pic of MisanthropyV's SVX shows:
