92 Ebony .. just back from ..

.. the paint shop.

So far, all I can say is WOW !

(Original) paint was more or less OK before. I had the whole thing painted.

Now, the outside is clean, the engine is clean & has the ECUtune s1v4, the underside is clean, the interior is clean, the car's 3rd tranny has new valve body and the ECUtune TCU, and I am awaiting the QC Shift Kit.

Left to do: new upgraded rotors, ss brake lines, new 17" wheels and new door and rear speakers.

Soon to be a completely happy camper.

No doubt then something will break ! ;-)

:pics: Must... have... pics! As per Captain Kirk.
Something will break soon, such is the nature of the beast.
ECUtune valve body? It shouldn't need the QC kit.

No, not the ECUtune valve body .. just a re-conditioning of the existing valve body. "New" was a bit of an exaggeration.

Pics will come after the first waxing, next weekend.

The old enamels needed 3 months the old Lacquers need 10 day . I believe the new epoxies and paints today a week is good . BE sure call and ask your body man that painted it. FOR sure don't put any gas in it for 10 days. If you spill it on the paint it will peel....you can ,however, take pictures 1/2 hour after it is finished , same as swimming after eating <LOL>

Getting together on Sunday with Obewan to get some shots of the new paint job. Should be some pictures posted Sunday or Monday. Can't wait to see the new paint as I may get my Claret painted in the next few years.

I asked Dave to help me since he takes much better photographs than I know how to. Looking forward to sharing ...

What's a good paint job go for these days ?

Re: 92 Ebony .. just back from ..

I would think a minimum of $3,000 .. probably more. I paid less (what my mechanic who's been helping me *restore* my SVX called a "wholesale price").

The "wholesale price" is a result of two things .. me spending a decent chunk of cash with him over the past three months, and 2) he's gotten more and more interested in the car as it has come back to life so nicely :) So, he was interested in seeing what it would look like, and he did me a favour (or so he says).

I have 2 body shops i am thinking of having do the hood and roof.

Re: 92 Ebony .. just back from ..

I was quoted $1,000 for hood and rear deck (had holes for wing filled in), $1,500 for hood, rear deck and both bumpers (they needed it), and so decided to go all in for $2,000.
