Ok, here is my review of the product that was mentioned a while back. It is amazing stuff. I have included some pictures of my results. This application of the product took about 10 minutes max. This is the seat before it had the product applied to it. The seat is horrible and I considered getting another leather cover for it. I didn't think it would work on this seat, so wanted to check the color match on this bad one. The color is great. If you see some red specks in the pictures, it is from the flash on my camera. There is no red visable when you look at it. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...eele/29931.jpg It is very easy to use. Make sure that the seat is clean and dry. It comes with a glove that you put on (plastic) and work the product into the leather. After about 30 to 60 seconds when it is applied, you buff with a clean dry cloth. This is the seat part way through the application. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...eele/29932.jpg It was very easy to do and the results are amazing. I would not hesitate to buy this product if you have any wear on your seats. Here is the seat after I finished buffing it. I will probably do it again to make sure I have good coverage before putting on a leather conditioner. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...eele/29930.jpg He does not have beige yet, but he will in the near future. I can let you know when he does. He is going to contact me when he gets it done. This is one of the best products I have used for restoring the seats. :) It looks much better in person than in the pictures. The flash does something to the picture and brings out reds and it looks more uneven than in the daylight. I will try to get some good daylight pictures. :) |
Wow! I'm impressed Earl. The results look amazing.

looks great....but I had to do a little search to find what you were talking about....went to the Ebay site...price seams fair enough..but the cup holder has about $2.00 worth of abs with some holes routed in it. Sheet stock abs generaly comes with that swade/alligator texture on one side nothing special...4'x8' sheet 1/4" thick cost about 5 to 6 dollars a square foot way up here on the island.

leather dye
Earl, The seats look great. Mine are just starting to show wear. Can you let me know the name, cost, wnd way to get the stuff? Also, do you have any idea of how long the treatment lasts?
thanks, Greg |
I am not sure where to buy this at this time, but am working on getting it available to members here. I don't know how long it will last, but it is a dye, so it should last for quite a while if a leather conditioner is used. :)

Steering Wheel
If you have one with a worn steering wheel do you think it might do the same for it?

I do have a worn steering wheel and will do a before and after shot on it as well. :)

So how thick is the consistency of this dye? I still don't understand how it can appear to look leathery since the leather in your original pics has worn away. Does it feel like original too?
|
The consistancy is fairly thin. The leather was worn away, but the leather was still there. I didn't realize that, but after putting the product on, it is just like the rest of the leather. The dyed part seems to wear away, but the leather is still there. He also suggests to use this on the leather steering wheel, but apply it a little thicker and let it dry more before buffing it. I will try to do the steering wheel tonight when I get home. :)

Earl, I believe this is the one you're using, right?? :) If I get one, that'll be more than enough for two cars' seats. My seats are not that bad. |
oops - forget to post the link.
