*Slight* clunk while turning.

I noticed yesterday that my SVX makes a very quiet clunking noise while turning the wheel at very slow speeds or while stopped. It seems to be coming from the front left.

My wife actually said, 'I can't believe you heard that while driving.'

I suspect ball joint, tie rod end or...or...rack. But the rack boots on the SVX have always been in good shape, so I'd find the last one unlikely.

Edit: I just wanted to clarify something. This isn't like a CV joint noise that keeps up during a turn. It only happens once or twice while turning the wheel.

I'd agree with you on ball joint. Probably the easiest to check too.

It seems that a lot of SVX's are loose either in the inner tierod or in the rack.

With 2 people you can check this by jiggling the steering wheel back & forth with the engine off while the other person checks all the steering components under the car for play.
