Cruise Control no longer works.

Ok I used the search and one thread I found was this one:

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...Cruise+Control

What happened with me is that I took in my 94' because I was getting a klanking sound coming from the back drivers side tire. They fixed that and while it was there I had them do a tranny flush and fill. (SO far no ill effects from the flush that I can see, this was about 2 weeks ago now.) But before they fixed the tire I called my dealr and was like WTF is up with me back drivers side tire and he offered to fix it for me for free. He had the car for a full 7 days because he had to order a few dealer only parts. I got it back and got on the freeway and now the Cruise Control does not work, I push the button on the dash and then move the little level to "set" and the light on the cluster does not come on.

So knowing all that, is there something that may have gotten disconnected by the mechanic or was this just bad timing? Is there a common hode or part that disconnects/breaks that I could look out for? Can the computer tell me what is wrong? Currently my check engine light still comes on but veeeeery veeeeeeeery occasionally. It was on almost all the time when I ran a tank of 87 through it on accedent. Thanks for all your help in advance.

the first place i would check is fuses.

First, I would like to know if the light is on when you try to set your speed. It should be on first. It will not come on if it is off when you try to set your speed.

The other thing is that sometime the vaccume hose gets knocked off and that keeps it from working. Check under the hood and see if one of the hoses was knocked off.

If the light does not come on before you try to set your speed, check to see if a fuse has blown. Good luck. :)

Yeah when I push the button on the dash board the light on the button comes on, but nothing happens when I try to 'set' it.

Is there a specific hose that I should be looking for?

Thank you all for your feed back so far.

Definitely check the cruise control vacuum hose. It connects to a small black cylindrical modulator, which is attached to the firewall on the driver's side, just to the left of the brake fluid reservoir. Look around in that area for a disconnected small black hose.

This is easy to accidentally disconnect (especially if you are checking tranny fluid and most definitely when you are changing the rear plugs. Just find it, plug it back onto the nipple on the right side of the modulator and all should be fine.

PS- I didnt invent the word "unconnected." I stole this pic from another member's locker. :)

I need to troubleshoot my CC system. Is this doable w/o the select monitor? My fuse and hose are fine but no light! :(

Thanks.

Wow! Thanks for the help, I will go check it out during lunch. If that is not it I will find the fuse box and see if that is it. Thanks guys,

You guys are smart!

Wow you guys hit the nail on the head. I went and looked and show nuff, it was disconnected. I plugged it back in and the cruise works just fine, but now the light on the dash does not come on when it is engaged. Any ideas? THanks all!
