uni joints , yes thats right they can be replaced ;)
me and dad still have to do some investigating with the drive shaft that snapped to see if they can be relatively easily changed (remove staked ones and machine a spot for the circlip) on an oem shaft ,
but the one i got out of my first svx had replaceable uni's in it already ;) the parts are ruj1786 :D or ruj1786r (stronger) they are quite cheap to buy of ebay.com.au im not sure what the part would be called over in the states or other countries (possibly the same) i cant find a cross reference chart with it on it but im sure there would be one the same for other model cars |

Re: uni joints , yes thats right they can be replaced ;)
Recently I sent a SVX driveshaft to "a place in Illinois".
They said that replacing staked U-Joints would not be a problem. Their price was fair, and the turn around time was good. However the driveshaft now had a very bad vibration. I believe that the driveshaft has been returned to the company for them to fix it. It will be a while before I can reinstall it again. When I do, I will post more information. BTW, when I, figgured out that the rebuilt driveshaft was bad I took another driveshaft to our local driveshaft rebuilders. They would not touch it. |
Re: uni joints , yes thats right they can be replaced ;)
Maybe the vibration was caused by unis not quite the right size?
Probably extremely close but not quite. The ones that were in the first svx's shaft were the ones i posted . do you guys know what the ones you put/had put in yours are ? |

my dad actually had to repair that bit it was oval instead of round :o and it was leaking before we even put in on the car , so he used some form of silicone stuff to "hope" it provides enough of a seal  i will be getting a 5 speed swap as soon as i get my tax cheque so i shouldn,t be driving with it on for very long |
Re: uni joints , yes thats right they can be replaced ;)
Hi,
The ATF fluid was leaking out of the transmission tail-shaft, where the driveshaft enters. |
