SVX Mechanic in the NYC/Westchester area
 

I am in need of a good SVX mechanic in the New York City/Westchester area!

All the Subaru mechanics that I have spoken to either have no experience with an SVX or no experience and want to charge $90/hr to try and work on one.

My rear wheel bearings are shoot and the sound is so unbearable I can't drive it any more.

Any help is great appreciated!

Sorry to be the one to tell ya....there are none in this area lol. Ive searched and searched and found no one. They all try to jip me....had a guy charge me 400 dollars to do my right front axle. And tried to charge me 90 dollars just to clean the throttle body....glad i didnt say ok to that one! There are 3 suby dealers here that i know of. Rushneck subaru in tarrytown....rye subaru....liberty subaru and oh yea pretige subaru in pleasantville.

I called all of them and they all want a fortune ($500 approx. with parts) .

Are there any good SVX mechanics in PA?

You don't need an "SVX mechanic." What you need is a good, reputable shop that will give you a solid quote up-front, then stand behind the work. The guy who replaced the rear wheel bearings (and timing belt, seals, water pump, etc.) on my car had never seen an SVX, and one year later, all is well.

There is someone on the network who does SVX maintanence at a subaru shop he has in new jersey. I think its SVXPERT...not sure but i will find out.

yea his name is svxpert. He has a subaru only shop in new jersey...i think its closer to the PA border...not sure about that though. He does the 60k/120k service and im sure he could do the bearings for you. Everyone has had nothing but great things to say about it too. He will also give you a great price. Make a thread with his name to get his attention just incase PM'ing him doesnt work. I'm from the south...state called kerala. Are you from India too?

haha i always thought i was the only Indian on these boards. We have now 4 members from india....3 from kerala. One from north india. And we have one bengali who is my friend as well. We should start our own desi forum to see how many there are out there. Where in NY are you from...how old are you? I'm 20...have had my SVX for just over a yr now. You can see pics in my locker under my 25th anniversary edition.
