radiator blown few questions

Hello everyone,

A few quick questions, I was on the way to work this morning which is about a three mile drive. Today it was extremely cold outside. I was about a mile away from work and there was no heat coming out and i noticed that the temp gauge was creeping up. I stopped at a stop sign steam started coming out from the hood and belts started slipping when fluid started getting all over the pulleys.
I pulled over turned the car off and opened the hood, could see radiator fluid all over the motor.

I guess my question is I feel that there was probably more water then coolant in the radiator which is my fault for not flushing when i bought the car. But the question is do you think the motor is toasted.

And besides buying a new radiator what do you think my next steps are.
Thanks
Jerad

The engine should be fine. I would fix it and move on. Unless it over heated, it would not hurt the engine. It was good you were watching the temp gauge. :) :) :)

Doubtful that you damaged the engine on one overheat, especially since you never got in the red. I bet you slap a new Radiator in and it's business as usual. Good luck and good catch! I always keep one eye on the gauges.
