There is a very informative, very well written article in the new issue of Automobile Magazine (August 2005). It lays out, very informativley, about what the future holds in the auto market. It even covers Rover's demise. By 2020 Toyota is expected to be the worlds largest maker and the US will drop from #1 to #3 in market share for sales. It also currently points out that very few manufacturers are actually turning a decent profit on individual sales. Nissan leads the majors at 10% with only Porsche outperfoming them at 17%. Most make 2-3% and GM is far from turning a healthy profit with the employee discount program. It also has a cutesy type diagram that shows current ownership of all the nameplates and who owns who. It was a nice article and a must read for anyone that loves cars.
