Fishy 1997 SVX

I was searching autotrader and saw this Fishy SVX looks like to me it was in a previous accident. I called the seller he said it had three previous owners. No accidents on the carfax but the mock light and the bad gaps are a dead giveaway. Beware shoppers

SVXer95 05-20-2004 05:39 PM

I think its hard to tell that given the quality of the pics. Things like gaps you really have to check out in person.

BTW: I am pretty sure it is a 94 or 95. Mock light, Emerald Green paint. Not things on the '97

alltrac 05-20-2004 05:41 PM

I checked the vin its a 97

SVXer95 05-20-2004 05:43 PM

wouldn't a v designation mean it was manufactured in '98? Still, the paint and mock light are wrong for that year. Definitely fishy.

Vin V is 97. It is Polo Green, Not Emerald. It has the wrong grill.

Nobody takes out a 97 grill in favor of the mock light. My guess is it was in a accident. Body shop didn't know any better or were having a hard time getting a 97 grill so they used a mock light.

Yeah it's hard to tell how big the gaps are on the front end from those pics, but the non-matching center grill would indicate either a previous non-reported collision or maybe a prior owner just liked that grill style over the '97???

Either way it's a beautiful car! I wouldn't buy it unless I had a mechanic I trusted inspect it thoroughly! :)

wrecked

just my opinion. the bumper is too low and and the drivers door looks slightly 'off'. It could be the picture. If you hit a pole say, and did not report it, you would take it some place cheaper to fix it--said droopy bumper. Get a magnet put it in a couple socks and go over the car to check for filler.

I thought this was gonna be about a SVX that smelled like Fish...DAMN IT...Im soo disappointed..

The brochure indicates Polo green was the only green offered in 95, but i've yet to see a Polo Green 95 in person. Emerald Pearl (Paint code 434) is the color of yours, and also the color of mine. Check the plate on your strut tower. Polo Green was, in reality, only on the 96 and 97.
