Need New Struts

1995 svx l 110,000 miles i need new struts all the way around, what should i get and wehre?

AFBeefcake 11-03-2006 12:33 PM

There are two options that I know of.
1) new ones from Subaru.
2) koni inserts.

I'd recommend the Koni's. I havnt used them myself (still on the origionals) but I believe I will be getting them soon. I've heard good things about them compared to the stock ones. You could also get coilovers from Dayle at Motorsports warehouse too. I think he sells his coilover kit for $2500 minus a Network discount.

so they are rebuildable, ive never done much with struts other than replace them how hard is this to do? also how much and what are the part numbers do i need other parts other than the inserts? went to www.koni.com i dont see anything listed im guessing there is somthing that fits?

The Konis are actually on sale right now at www.classicgarage.com
:D

AFBeefcake 11-03-2006 03:38 PM

The konis are inserts. So you have to gut the old struts and install the inserts into them. You would have to drain the oil out of your struts and then cut the tops off them. The inserts slid inside your old struts and bolt thought the bottom.
As for springs to can get them from motorsport warehouse or go with ground control coil overs if you go with the konis.

Mychailo has them cheaper and will rebuild them for you. He also does springs.

Why are those references not listed anywhere not even on the Koni catalog?

AlcyoneDaze 03-05-2007 11:22 AM

Possible to pair the Subaru OE struts with the motorsport warehouse springs?

To my knowledge Classic Garage is the only customer Koni has for the SVX inserts. They wholesale and retail them. Koni North America does not stock them. They are made to order.

i'm using OE struts and motorsport springs. lose a bit of ride quality because of the lowering springs. but it's expected, nothing to really complain about

trieck1232 03-05-2007 05:16 PM

i almost sure that they could be measured and sombody makes them....just a mater of finding the person that can do this...
