Project Managers
Do we have any on here? Looking for a little input on your experiences with the career.
Thanks |
I did it for 2 years, wasnt for me. What else do you need to know?
|
for what reasons may I ask?
personal fit? time with family? boring? Stress? Co workers? |
Personal fit.
Living on conference calls. Boring. Very Stressful. I'm more of a do-er than a Manager. If I ever find myself in a management position, I will be one of those working managers. |
What kind of projects? I've been managing projects in manufacturing for a while now if that helps...
|
That sums it:
- Responsibility - Sharpness - Intelligence - PR - Entrepreneur |
For me, it was IT Project management.

U.S. Navy and NASA PM experience...drop me a PM with any specific questions you might have.

Most of the time, they wrote the check and drove a YEAR of my life away! What sort of 'project' are you going to be 'managing'? Most recently, (2 years worth), I have been 'managing' a 'project' that the county paid $55,K for, and rents for another $10,000 per year that NO ONE else in our system UNDERSTANDS! Oh! There is another person that understands it, but the UNION won't let her put her hands on it! She just has to tell me what she needs and I GET it for her. I drove her to grade school back in the 70's. (School Bus #32.) She is my supervisor. I helped get her there so I could have a 'ally'. I didn't want to get there myself. I am more of a 'do-er than a leader. I understand it, so I get to answer the hard questions, so the BOSS can explain what is going on! GERRRRRRRR!!! EXAMPLE..... 'project manager' |
Thanks a lot for the input guys. Still on the hunt.
