Torque binding question

So i put in the fwd chip, and the first time i did, it didnt do anything, still binded like a... is there any way of telling if the fwd is engaged? While looking through the search, kinda read some people said a light would come on i think? So if i did read correctly, does it come on on the dash? Anyway, so i decided to try again today, and while it did not go away, the bind was a lot let severe, and i only have to tap the gas peddle to get it to move in full lock. Before, i had to put a bit more pressure. And also, not the stuttering in the back wheels are minimal, but it still will not roll if i let off the break. So any ideas?

When you put a fuse in the FWD slot, "FWD" should appear in red in the upper left (as I recall) of the instrument cluster. Don't know what's up if it still binds with a fuse in place, but it can't be good. Be sure the fuse isn't blown.

So if nothing comes up on the dash? whats wrong? Cause i have tried visually checking and physically switching out the fuses, and it works in the clock socket, so im sure the fuse is working. But i do not see any lit up fwd on the top left. Anyone have ideas on how to remedy this?

How clean is the FWD fuse socket? Mine was covered in dielectric grease and grit from 17 years of driving. Try spraying out the fuse socket w brakeleen and trying again.

Yeah you're right... kinda dirty with debris and stuff... i'll do my best to clean it out and try again.

I tried again after spraying brake cleaner and was going at it a cue tip but still could not get it 100% clean... put back the AC and the FWD and still no AWD light on the dash. Anyone had the problem of the fuse not working and maybe a way to fix it?

What year is your car?

It is a 92... why do you ask?

Re: Torque binding question

Cause some are fwd and maybe dont no that sticking the FWD in a FWD car will do nothing and will not show a FWD light. The FWD light in your car may just be burnt out.

Re: Torque binding question

Possible, but ive realized putting in the fuse does not do anything really. Just out of curiousity, the fuse that is labelled AC next the FWD is for the AC thermostat display? or the actually compressor?

Re: Torque binding question

I dont know about the fuse but the relay 7 goes to the a/c compressor. The other a/c fuse below the FWD fuse may tie in with it.

Yeah, well, my ac is not blowing cold, so i don't really know. Any ideas how to check if the socket is in working condition? Possibly like one of those meters that electrictions use?

Your solenoid C is messed up if you still get rear engagement after inserting the FWD fuse. FWD cars don't have the spot for the fuse, mine didn't have the wiring coming from the TCU for the fuse, the wire to the FWD light, or the terminals or labeling in the fusebox

Re: Torque binding question

I must have misread... i thought, if the fuse solves the problem it is the solenoid? I got backwards if what you say is true.

Re: Torque binding question

The FWD fuse supplies 12 volts to the FWD solenoid. (Not directly IIRC, it tells the ECU to supply it..) If your solenoid is burned out (open) it won't be a complete circuit and the light will not come on and your car will still bind since without the solenoid powered, the car is in full 50:50 lock front to rear.
