Numbers of colors by year for US and Canada.

Here is a chart of the numbers of the different colors offered each year and the number of them from the cars that are registered. I found it very interesting. If you have not registered your SVX yet, do so and it may change this chart. :)

Wasn't '94 Emerald Pearl, a bit different from Polo? I still have the vin # for the one I had but not the color number.

Yes it was. I just took the easy way out. I guess I will try to do it with the emerald green and take it from there. :o

Ok, I redid the chart and I seperated Emerald Green from the Polo Green. I should have done it before, but it is done now. :D Thanks for bringing it up, because someone else would have done it sooner or later.

Nice little chart, Earl. I love it when you gather and organize data. Let's call it the macro view of SVXness. Works to add structure to the tunnel (vision) we build around our few personal cars. :p

Thanks I wanted to do this so we could see which colors were the most common and rare. This shows it for each year and overall. I was a little surprised at the results. As I update the owners list, it updates the color chart as well. :)

Earl, this is off topic for this thread but have you narrowed down the seatbelt/air bag switch for sure? perhaps that thread should be moved into this registration forum as well

Earl, this is a great chart showing what colours members have registered, and thank you for putting the work into collating the information.

I've one small quibble with how the information is presented, and I'll tell you what it is. Being on the Registration Forum, members will look at this chart and will expect that these are the colours that were available for the SVX across the world, when in fact that's not actually the case.

What you have listed here as 'Colors offered each year' should probably be qualified further as ' Colors offered each year in the US'. The lists that John and I compiled some years ago separated the information for the world-wide markets. Even that information was not complete, a couple of weeks ago we discovered that Switzerland got the later Bordeaux colour with the black roof!

I'm aware that the chart as presented is using a statistical sample drawn from members' details as supplied, and the vast majority of the study sample is US. However no member has yet supplied details on Dark Grey Mica or Ruby Mica cars, two available SVX colours not listed in your chart.

So it is erroneous to present the information as though it may represent the totality of available colours world-wide, when in fact that's not really the case and this could confuse some members not actually from USA.

Joe ;)

[I'm getting like Trevor, aren't I? :D]

This chart is only US and Canada. I will label it as such. I can do one for other countries as well. The problem is that there are very few listed from other countries. Thanks :)

Or that maybe the US and Canada was the World, or something.

Nah, I just don't have much on the rest of the world. I am trying to get enough info that I can get something made up that will show some info. :)

I knew what you meant Earl. I was only pulling your leg. ;) :D

You're quite right we don't have enough info from people, they can be slow to give details. What makes it a little more difficult is the fact that different countries got slightly different options, and this included colours.

Like for instance;

USA & Canada seem not to have been offered the later all-over Bright Silver.

The UK seems not to have been offered the Ruby Mica and Black combination, but got every other colour. Although at present we only know of ONE Laguna Blue UK car, and ONE Yellow car. Those babies are scarce.

USA did not get Ruby Mica and Black.

USA did get Anniversary Red, without a black roof. This colour was offered in England, but only with a black roof.

We need more dealer brochures, from every country, so we can verify what colour options were offered.

Joe :)

Joe - I have been making a chart and registration info, but I am having problems getting the different colors offered in all of the years. :( I will send you what I have, and if you can, let me know if there are any changes. :)

I'll do that Earl. Whatever info I have I'll add to what you got.

We will not have full info on all the markets. We will have most if not all info on major markets.

They will need to be subdivided country by country.

Joe
