Back-Up Lights

Anyone ever find a way to increase the light output of the lights that come one when the car is put into reverse? Perhaps different bulbs put out more light? Perhaps "after market" back-up lights are available?

As it is, the back-up lights provide nearly zero elumination, but I believe the small rear windshield contributes to the visibility problem. I'd like to tint that back windshield, but if I can't see out of it at night when backing up as it is, it's gonna be worse with tint. Although, if I can't see out of it right now when I back-up, tinting it shouldn't matter.

I found 50 watt halogen lights that work great for the back up lights. I can see when I shift into R and see what is back there. :)

Yeah man, that's what I was looking for. I was hoping there was something out there like that. Where did you pick them up, just a normal car parts store?

Car parts catalog. They are a little expensive - $10.00 ea., but they should last a long time, and I can see when I back up. :)

I was looking on eBay just now and came across 'XENON' lights. Upon further research on this site I see that XENON's from ebay are usually crap.

Sooo hmm...I guess I'll just go visit an auto parts store and see if they cary halogen lamps for the backup lights.

If you come to one of our meets here in the greater Seattle area, I have some of these and you could see them, and I do have extras. The other thing I could do is ship some to you if you want a couple. Email or PM me if you are interested in getting them from me and I will give you the details. :)

This works wonderfully. Kind of on the expensive side.

VBRS

Video Based Rearview System.

I think I am the only SVX that have that unit.

Does it work in the dark, or in low light? Just wondering. It is unique. :)

It would really depend on the type of camera you used in the back of the car. If its a cheap b&w camera, it would probably work horrible at night. If it was a more expensive camera, it would probably work okay. If you were REALLY L33T, you could hook up a few cameras with a switchable input type dealy so you could go from regular camera during the day, to night vision camera at night, or hell, even IR camera. :) Hardcore. Heheh.

IR does not work too well but I can get a hold of the heat seeking cam that cops use for night (from the chopper) for around 1500 if you are interested.

What type of camera does the new Infinity Q45 has? And yours?
