Greenville, SC mechanic

Hello all,

I'm looking for a reliable mechanic in the Greenville, SC or Charlotte, NC area. I was told there was an ex-Subaru tech that started a shop in Mauldin, SC, but I can not find his number. If anyone has hus number, or another reputable mechanic in the area, I'd appreciate the information. Thanks!

What kind of work do you need to have done?
If you can drive it I'd take it to Tennessee to Earl Duff. I still haven't found a shop in Greenville that I'd trust.
If it is a simple replacement of something then bring it over to my place on a weekend.

Hmmm..

Where is Earl located? I need to have the 60K maintenance performed, and I was going to go ahead and replace the water pump and oil pump too. Do you know the guy in Greenville/Mauldin that I was talking about? I actually spoke with him for about 1/2 hour about my car and he seemed to be competent, and he did know his Subarus... Thanks.

Earl Duff is in Oakridge Tennessee. PM Svxter for an exact location - he lives right near there. The owner drives an SVX. We had a meet there a couple years ago and the guys were a great group. I have heard of no bad experiences there.

Is the guy in mauldin the one that used to work at Steve White volkswagon/subaru? Light Brown hair, big guy, late 20's/early 30's (I can't seem to remember his name)

If it is him, he is a smart guy and knowledgeable tech. I hated taking my car to steve white only because they pressured this tech (the only suby tech there) into taking alot of shortcuts. I have missing gaskets and bolts on both mine and my wife's svx from that dealership. I replaced timing belts/water pump/oil pump with them and the job was butchered in more ways than one. I don't blame the tech, I blame a manager with poor priorities.
I'd trust this tech if I watched him do the work.

If it was my car and wallett I'd be planning a trip to Tennessee.

Actually, it's Harriman, TN -- right on the main drag.
