A drunk Wrecked my baby!!!!!

Friday night I was going east into belvidere when I was struck by a drunk driver going west bound in the east bound lane, I tried to avoid but he still hit the left rear corner of beatiful pearl white 92. Here's the pics

I want her fixed in the worst way. Adn I refuse to hand her over to anyone else.

fait_svx 08-09-2005 04:26 PM

I'm sorry to hear about that. I hope your alright. It doesnt look too bad. Is your insurance gonna fix it?

TomsSVX 08-09-2005 04:31 PM

WOW, good thing u r ok. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but she is more than liklely totaled. You are better off cllecting the insurance for it, keeping it and parting it out and using the money from both to buy a new SVX. I hope all goes well and you are on the road quickly

I am sorry to hear that too. I would have to agree with Tom on the condition of your car. A smaller problem on one that I bought was estimated at $14,000 to repair.  :(

RASchemel 08-09-2005 05:00 PM

I'm fine a little soar, I will be fixing my car. I do not care what state farm says or the body shop. I want my SVX back. I am not letting them keep it just to turn around ant sell it for them selves.

Hey there. Yeah that looks like it was a bruser, no doubt. I hope you are able to get it repaired. If not please let me know if you are interested in parting with your windshield. $1100 from the Subie dealer is a nightmare.

Time to let that one go. From first hand experience I bought a messed up 1992 Legacy it had such a little dent on her but the thing was when I tried putting some mods on my lights it just wouldnt fit since the metal was bent and must have effected the lights. Anyway I would strongly consider dumping the white car, but am glad that the SVX kept you in good condition. Hopefully they are all that way but who knows?

Chiketkd 08-09-2005 08:55 PM

I'm sorry to hear about the accident. Good luck with whatever you decide to do...but I would take heed to Ensteele's advice - he knows what he's talking about! ;)

I also share the unanimous sentiment in the fact you were not injured. I would also like to give you a piece of advice. The monetary damage to your car could well work in your favor if you sue for damage and reckless endangerment. Especially, if the person who hit you was issued a DWI or even a DUI for that matter.

Red SVX 92 08-10-2005 10:25 AM

Definitely sue the guy's insurance company for personal injuries and damage to your vehicle. Use that money to get another SVX. I understand your sentiment about your SVX, because I've had to let mine go too, but it's probably better to get a fresh start rather than trying to fix that one up, whether that's with a new SVX or another car.

Let us know what the outcome is. See if you can get some free advice from some lawyers.

I was wondering. If a drunk guy hit and totalled your car, can or will his insurance still pay for the damages or does your insurance pay (if full coverage was purchased)? I've always wondered if there was a clause in the insurance policies that shielded them from drunk driving (if you drive under the influence, we won't pay and your policy is immediately cancelled).

TomsSVX 08-10-2005 03:21 PM

I do believe that insurance companies are required to pay for anything a driver does while he/she is insured. Drunk driving is no excuse. Even if the guy did not have insurance, your company should have to pay under the non-inusred driver clause that is underwritten into most policies. This is a very convenient clause for those of us who have liability only coverage in the case of a hit and run.

I would not advise this..... I did the same thing about a year ago and am just now getting my car back.... The hassle and wait and cost is not worth it.... (Unless you have alot of stuff done to yours like mine.... If you wanna know about my accident, look in my locker... There are pics from it... And just so ya know, GEICO decided to total it.... The damage was nothing.... Yours can be repaired but if there is any damage to the Strut Towers, I would just say, keep it for parts and get yourself a new one... You will be better off in the long run... Hope all goes well for ya!! :)

That's pretty interesting. I was informed by an agent years back that uninsured motorist coverage covers the medical expenses including pain and suffering of an uninsured driver. I think they mentioned that it doesn't cover property damage which is covered by comprehensive coverage or some such plan.

Unless I'm mistaken, liability coverages the other party if you're at fault, liability + comprehensive covers both parties, and full covers everything including 'forces of nature/acts of god'?? Once again, I could be wrong.

Anyone else knows?

If the person at fault's liability doesn't cover DUI/DWI and you have liability only, you're pretty much screwed (at least property wise).

well, its toast, 10 grand for parts and labor. So I will be parting it out. the motor all the way back. I dont know what I want for the parts. I'm too pissed right now. I want to rip some one or something a a new *******, But I still will not have my SVX back.
