Anyone know about Talon's SVX?

Been getting emails from the Yahoo SVX site detailing Talon's SVX which is supposed to have a special -8 engine, with dual turbos, nitros, etc. and puts out around 700 hp. Anybody here actually seen this "beast"?

GreenMarine 02-27-2003 11:39 AM

Nope I haven't seen it... But I wouldn't believe it till I saw it... The next e-mail that you get from them, reply to it and ask for pictures and proof of 700hp.... Then they might have some believers... But it would be cool if it were true.. :)

svxcess 02-27-2003 11:44 AM

For those who remember, this sounds like a reincarnation of "Peppi"

Vern! 02-27-2003 12:04 PM

Hey, Peppi was different. After spending all his money modifiying his SVX he did not have any left for a $100 digital camera to take pictures. Or some story like that.

Why is it that folks make claims of this sort without thinking that someone might actually ask for a bit of visual proof? I'm willing to believe a twin-turbo EG33 is putting out 700hp. But only after I see a picture of the engine bay WITH the snails and intercooler.

SVXRide 02-27-2003 12:29 PM

Here's the last email I received...

I've been following Talon Truesdell's reports on his tricked out car
and have decided to independently declare it "world's fastest SVX."*
Mind you, I have not seen it nor read any reports of it anywhere but
in this forum, but it must be one special car. In case you missed
it, here are some excerpts from Talon: Engine swap to "Hiroshima
motor part #8," which, according to message #71916 puts out "at least
475-500 hp." In addition Talon has installed twin T-86 turbos that
are "putting out 25-50 hp" (message #72035). I take this to mean an
additional 25-50 hp EACH from the turbos. To top it off, Talon added
a NOS system (message #72035) that puts another 150 hp to the wheels
as needed. If my math is correct, this brings the overall horsepower
of this amazing car to more than 700! Consider this; in message
#71917, Talon claims a top speed for his SVX of 240 mph. Folks, this
is getting into the Indy Car/Formula I range. We have all heard of
the mysterious twin-turbo SVX made in limited numbers for the Japan
home market. Talon has gone far beyond anything I've heard about
performance from the twin-turbo Japan-only SVX. Talon, I hereby
unofficially declare your's to be Worlds Fastest SVX. Best wishes.
Preston

My questions are: 1. How much must he have spent to get to this point? 2. How does he stop this beast? and 3. what kind of drivetrain is he running to handle 700+ hp?

Mr. Pockets 02-27-2003 12:39 PM

I call bull****.

So, this is what the Yahoo! club has deteriorated into? They still actually believe that there was a limited-production twin-turbo SVX? We put that one to rest years ago.

Come on, guys. Nobody's ever actually seen a twin-turbo SVX and nobody's ever actually seen Talon's car. Even if somebody claims to have seen it - where are the photos?

Preston, whoever he is, has swallowed a huge amount of bull**** and needs medical attention immediately.

Man, this stuff just makes me nuts.

LarryIII 02-27-2003 12:45 PM

Nick,

Preston is not the moderator of the Yahoo SVX Group (they did away with clubs and now have groups) John Shotsky is the moderator.

Mr. Pockets 02-27-2003 01:07 PM

You're confusing the issue, Larry. Yeah, I referred to the Yahoo! 'group' as a 'club,' but who cares? I'm still referring to the same public forum. And I didn't even call Preston a moderator.

At issue is this supposed '700hp SVX.' All I said was that Preston had swallowed a massive amount of bull**** - and I stand by that.

Subaru did not produce a twin-turbo SVX, as we should all know well by now. And Preston (again, whoever he is) should know better than to publicly support such monumental claims without a single shred of actual evidence.

Don't even get me started on the SVX/F1 comparison. A modern F1 car weighs 1320lbs and has an engine (which weighs less than 200lbs) producing between 800 and 900hp. You draw your own conclusions concerning whether or not an SVX could really ever compare.

LarryIII 02-27-2003 02:06 PM

Nick,

I didn't try to confuse the issue. I only tried to update you as to who is the moderator over at the Yahoo site.

I woundn't waste time typing about Talon's SVX because it is just BS. Talon hasn't mastered the art of writing yet. How can I believe that he has mastered mechanics and was able to convince people to send him such an engine even if it existed.

I have found, in my travels through life, that it is very, very rare for a person who can't write well to be extemely wealthy. That is why I dismiss most of these outrageous claims from the "get go."

WestCoastSVX 02-27-2003 02:09 PM

LOL Nick I love your rants, whether I agree with them or not. :D

In this case of course I wholeheartedly agree! But was an entertaining write up for a milisecond or so.

Everybody must think that I type this stuff standing up, tapping one foot because I'm so pissed off. I'm not. These really aren't 'rants.'

I suppose that 'this stuff makes me nuts' made me sound angry. I'm not.

Irritated, but not too badly. :D

Right, but it didn't make any sense. Nobody asked who the moderator was*, and since you provided no additional information to put your statement in context, it seemed to directly address me. And I never said that I thought Preston was the moderator.

* Don't read too much into that. I'm just clarifying, not suggesting that anybody not volunteer an opinion or info just because 'nobody asked for it.'

I agree completely on both counts.

LarryIII 02-27-2003 02:28 PM

Nick,

When you mentioned Preston's name I thought that you meant the retired gentleman from Texas who used to be an SVXer. The Yahoo SVX site went to H**L with the pop-up ads and the old format. I stuck it out as long as I could "over there" but eventually it became intolerable. Occasionally, I still visit, read some posts, get frustrated at the pop-up ads and leave.

svxistentialist 02-27-2003 02:30 PM

Wind me up, let me go

Guys, guys,

From my memory of Yahoo!, Preston is PD Sides, and is a stand-up guy.

This whole World's Fastest SVX thing is written tongue in cheek for your entertainment, you were meant to notice that.

I mean, c'mon, two turbos, each adding 20-50 hp?????:D Anything better engineered than a plastic turbo is going to add 100hp to a big engine.

Lighten up, enjoy the bull$hit with Preston.

Joe:D :D
