How about the last 6 numbers of it. This is the production number. If you would get me the manufacture date on the drivers side door post, that would be great as well. Thanks.

The information that I would like so we can keep track of these cars is as follows:

Network name:
Year: 1997
Trim: LSi
Drive: AWD
Color:
Mileage:
Manufacture Date: found on door post on passenger side.
VIN: or last 6 numbers in the VIN - this is the production number.

Re: 97 Svx

List correction: JaySVX's car is a 1994 Barcelona LSi.

Additionally, I am posting the donor car I purchased in the Fall of 2006.

Network name: Mike621
Year: 1997
Trim: LSi
Drive: AWD
Color: Ebony
Mileage: 52,533
Manufacture Date: No Data Available.
VIN: JF1CX8659VH100364
Comments: This vehicle belonged to member "JeffN" before I purchased it on 10/2/06. During their ownership, they took meticulous care of the vehicle. Unfortunately, that was ended, along with their string of SVX ownership, when a Nissan Pathfinder crossed in front of his wife in traffic. The left frame rail was pushed into the side of the engine, and the vehicle was issued a Florida Certificate of Destruction. Dismantled during the winter of 2006.

Some body parts, and the complete interior went to my Claret.
The engine was first in Tom's S/C Silver, and then redone and installed in It's Just Eric's 96 LSi.
The transmission went into a 92 Pearl LSL which was saved from the junkyard.

Earl,
You are missing my VIN, which is: JF1 CX8654 VH100370.

And the manufacture date is 10/96.

Any idea how many of the '97's are still around. I would assume many have not sent you the info on their cars ...

Hi guys. New member here.

I've just acquired #426 from gmaxum in Edmonton, and have brought it back to Calgary where it was originally sold.

97 Canadian LSi, Ebony Pearl on tan.
JF1CX8655VH100426
11/96 155,000 kms

Very clean vehicle. Needs a little TLC to get her back up to par, but plan to keep as stock as possible and use as a daily driver, especially in the winter.

PM sent to ensteele to update list. Glad to be aboard.

Did you buy it at Village Service Center? I saw it listed a while back and they were asking $5,000. It looked like a good one. Good to have you here. :)

From 2002 to 2009 the car accumulated 32,000 miles under the original owner. It was serviced by Downtown Subaru in Oakland only. I bought the car in October 2009 with 33,000 miles on the odometer.

Comments: On 11/7/2009 I bought the SVX that was listed here: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51890

Cosmetically very good for the age and miles. Just some stone chips on the nose and rear spoiler plus minor door dings and scuffs from parking lots. The plastic parts showed typical oxidation. The interior is beautiful. The only interior modifcation came from what looks like a dealer installed cell phone mount and remote antenna/repeater. Only wish the dealer had not screwed the mount directly into the side of the center console. Removing it will leave holes. The drivers side window switch cluster has a loose switch for the passenger rear window. Aside from this the interior is practically new.

Mechanically the car is in very good condition. I only found the following issues on my inspection:

Power steering whine (minor) - I observed a damp area under the power steering reservoir. The whine decreased significantly when the car was warm. I suspect that the 30 minute O-Ring fix listed on this forum will take care of it.

Shimmy under hard braking (major) - During the test drive I observed wheel shimmy under hard braking. Most likely this is warped front brake rotors although the seller thought that the rotors had been replaced recently. Light moderate braking had some puslsing but no shimmy. This is major because of safety but minor from a mechanical standpoint as the front rotors are easy to replace and I already planned to upgrade them anyway.

Clicking sound from rear at crusing speed (?) - On the ride home I noticed a faint to moderate clicking sownd (radio was off) coming from behind me. It sounded similar to the click when a cv joint is going bad. It was constant and varied in frequency with road speed. I really hope it isn't the rear diff but I haven't identified it yet. I'd appreciate it if anyone has ideas about this.

Jim

It looks like you're just down the road Earl! I would love to come to one of your meets, when would the next one be?

If you want to see some pics of the Laguna Blue I just posted some in my Member Gallery. Also threw some of my '92 Claret up there that I took on the weekend.

If you look in the region forums, you will see that there is a drive from Vancouver WA. The next one after that is the Dabob Seafood meet that I put on. :) You will see the details of it there too. I look forward to meeting you.

I have always had a thing for the SVX, so when I saw one for sale I just bought it! (1 week ago). Switched all fluids over to synthetics, rebuilt the power steering pump. Car is rust free! Cosmetically needs a bit of work though.

Figure I'll try to fix everything up and it will make a nice weekend cruiser!
