Rear Axle Pins
Removal of the rear driveshafts has been posted in great detail however some are stating to remove the axle pins and others are simply advising to use a pry bar between the axle and rear differential and the axle will pop out.
Which is it? I know the front axles use pins to secure themselves in the front differential, is this the same for the rear? A review of the SVX Manuals parts diagram does not reference or show a pin being used. I looked over the axles and there does not appear to be a pin, although my axles are pretty rusted...i pin could be hiding under there. I just want to be certain before I use a pry bar on the rear axles WITHOUT having first removed the pin. |
Re: Rear Axle Pins
The rear axles don't have pins. They pop out, and you can use a pry bar to pop them out if they are stubborn or you can't get a good grip on them.
There is a kind of spring C-clip thing that holds them in. You'll see it on one side when you take the axles out. |
Re: Rear Axle Pins
Rear axles use circlips. Just use a pry bar and good force and they'll pop out.

Re: Rear Axle Pins
Thanks guys, good to know. Are the cir clips reusable?
