Listen to your codriver.

I've absolutely been driving fast enough in both the SVX and the Justy to get into crashes like that, and I don't have safety measures like harnesses and roll cages. Since I can't afford those things right now, I autocross. At least out on an open airfield, and 40mph, the worst I can do is tip my car over.

Of course I can't say for certain, because it seems that the event was an amateur one in Scandanavia, but that shot of the red sedan sliding sideways into the tree does not look survivable for the codriver.

Other accidents, like many WRC crashes I recognize (most notably Gronholm and Delacour crashing out of the 2002 Wales Rally of GB), were entirely survivable. But I don't think that the codriver in the 'Citroen-RallyT' clip survived. Even if he/she did, I would expect that it was only barely.

There are other crashes in the video that look horrendous and possibly not survivable, but that one stuck out in my mind as an obvious example.

While crashes can and will happen in motor racing, and I even agree that there's 'knowledge in every crash,' I feel differently about video which depicts people getting killed.

Nice videos Kelli. Do you actually like to watch those or did Bill get you onto it?

Anyways, I have many videos like that rally video you put up. Driving on roads like that seems like great fun. Nick you want to be a co-driver? :D We can take turns. Before I die, I would like to try some of those roads for fun.

I'm not afraid of dying, just afraid of not dying.

Actually, I'd trade places with those rally drivers in a second. I think I missed my calling.

Which, of course, isn't to say that my job sucks. I just wish I had that one. :p

no, i am just sick and tired of having to cut ppl out of cars because they think it is okay to try to drive like this on public roads.

i saw these on another site, and getting a point across is easiest if you show someone the worst

drive careful and wear a damn seatbelt!

I can understand that, but I think some of those shots are likely snuff.

Snuff films are those that show people getting killed. Some people enjoy that. I don't. That's why I object to that video.

SHISVX 03-02-2004 02:57 PM

i can agree with that, i was just looking for a way to make my words of wearing a seatbelt make more sense, i wish the other link would work, it shows inside what happens when you don't wear one.

i didn't pick it because it looks like someone probably got killed

I know you didn't. I wasn't picking on you, just the video.

And you have, of course, noble intentions. I always wear my seatbelt, and the car doesn't move until everybody inside is buckled in, too.

Noir 03-02-2004 10:49 PM

:D

i wear seatbelts, but unfortunately people like me would find enjoyment in those videos. not because of the snuff....now that Nick has mentioned it, i have to consider the possibility that i may like snuff videos (i do like to watch 'faces of death' videos). i just like the rally driving. although i don't believe that people should street race because the risk of killing an innocent is there, i do however like to hear that some of these punks get into accidents that hopefully will change their lives or serve as an example for the risks involved from street racing (hopefully without any bystander casualities).

as for being tired of cutting people out of cars...maybe you should change jobs. there's too many dumb people out there that you will have to cut out and one day there will be a time where you can no longer bear to see these type of events daily. when that time comes, be aware that i will always need someone to help with my tummyaches :D.

GreenMarine 03-03-2004 07:01 AM

You're sick Harry... :D:D:D But that's Ok, because I've always enjoyed those movies too :):D:D

I wonder if we are attracted to these videos because it's not something we see every day. (Kind of a Howard Stern effect)
