Has anyone contacted JC Taylor about insurance?

I have a LOT of cars, so I have to shop insurance. I contacted them last week and asked about the SVX, since they have been out of production for over 11 years.

The response was, IF you have other older cars insured with US, we will "work with the SVX". It can be done! SOOOOO, I sent the info on the 81 VW Rabbit!! (car #1)

Now, about JC Taylor. They insure MORE collector/antique/street rods than ANYONE!!
My quote on the VW was $300K personal injury, $300K property damage, uninsured motorest, comp and collision, NO deductable, for under $100. per YEAR!! The catch is, you gotta have a garage and can't use the car as the daily driver. ( Not a prob for a LOT of us)

Food for thought.......

killer deal, but I drive my svx daily.

Jerry,

I've tried them and virtually any other classic car insurer with no luck. I'd like to see ya do it b/c I'll move my new CB175 to classic insurance if they do that to open the window for my SVX. Very tired of paying $.10 a mile for insurance each year that will amount to nothing anyways if I'm in an accident as it'll only pay for my glass.

Now lets talk about why you have a RABBIT?:D

It has been lounging around the farm for 7 years. 3 years ago I drove it for 2 months on a temp tag. I was either going to junk it, cut it up to build a sawmill or some other thing.
The daughter found 2 ugly, beat up specimines on E-bay. They sold for over $2,500 EACH!! So I started thinking.. WELL, If they will sell for that much looking BAD, what would a SHINEY one bring??
So, after a week of rubbing the dents out, it got shiney.
Next it gets 'Historic' tags and a 'fer sail' sign!

Since the SVX is out of production for over 11 years, Md will issue 'Historic' tags.
Once THAT happens, the value starts to climb! I am going to have the first set of Historic tags on an SVX.

Don't you have a 70's vintage car??

Just sent application and check for $67.00 to cover my recent purchase of a 83 RX7. Same limits and $5000. stated value with collision. They agreed to cover our "Green Queen" with the the RX7 as a "modified" vehicle but quoted $200 more than Hagerty with a stated value of $25000. We have 4 other daily drivers under a seperate policy with only 2 drivers so occasional use is not an issue. Also have 3 car garage and a 6 car drive in basement along with a supportive wife. ;)

The Quote on the 1947 440 Dodge pick up was $187. with $5,000 stated value. I will 'up' the value as work progresses.

She's a little rough right now. 21 years since the 'build' and 100K hard pounding. 440 still runs great though. (when I can buy 100+ octane for her!)

They're not old enough

Most of my driving is done in test vehicles supplied by various manufacturer's PR departments. So, my three car collection, currently 17, 16, and 15 years old, do not get driven a lot. WELL under 3K miles per year. I have State Farm, and it is costing me just under $2,000 per year to insure the trio. It would be nice to cut that down, but I have been rebuffed by the three major collector car insurance carriers, and also turned down for State Farm's collector car insurance. So I guess I'll have heavy payments until they start to reach 20 years of age, at which time, I'm told, they will be acceptable as collector vehicles.

I have a beautiful 91 Dodge extended cab p/u stashed in the barn. It has 50K, new paint, wheels, tires, pin stripes and it runs like a swiss watch. I have put 500 miles on it in (3) years!! I was offered $5,000 a few months ago but didn't sell. It will be old enough for the Historics some day. It can just sit there and rest for a few more years.

I have 2 p/u's and 2 Outbacks insured with allstate. costs about $140. per month. comp on all, no collision. They don't offer anything on classic or historics. They are 'just another car' to them.

PA for classic tags is 15 years so I'm still 2 years off. No vintage car, just a vintage lawn mower engine in a 2 wheeled death trap.
