Post-repair inspection?

Has anybody ever hired a post-repair inspector to examine their car after a repair? The damage to our Outback has reached $11k - two-thirds of the value of the car. I can look it over and say, 'yeah, that looks fine to me,' (and trust me, I'm picky) but I am admittedly ignorant about repairs of this magnitude.

I'd also like somebody to assess the diminished value of the car. I don't think it's worthless, but certainly it's worth less. ;)

Anyway, I don't even know what to look for in the phone book. :)

Call a few dealers that sell "certified pre owned" cars. See what they'd charge to do the same inspection on your Outback. If they'd sell it as "certified" that will give you some peace of mind.
